TD - appreciate all the great info re/induction motors and thanks to all I have a new perspective on TV products. I wonder if the light-weight Dyson vacuum cleaners (10-12 yrs. ago) that never held up long was because of wrong/inferior motors. I know for fact their hairdryers have issues but they're great when working. Couple hairdressers have returned to manufacturer and received new ones. Hoping mine holds up.

What is it about the Mediterranean cruises that people love? We've friends that continually plan a yearly "med" cruise - they aren't into sight seeing/historical tours, art museums but meet up with cruise buddies from FLA and have a blast -- or a booze cruise. We've been reluctant to join up and it's a smaller ship -- think I'd feel safer on a huge one.

TD - Interesting info re/the juice machine as it's very difficult (or was) to find quality ones that didn't burn out quickly. I think you have to use them consistently for a few wks. to really test the quality. Blenders are another test case - even the pricier ones would honk out quickly making fresh salsa daily - guess that's why they make food processors. Never hear about bread machines (who has time when grocery store has ready made) but last new one I had was stolen from the devout Pentecostal crazy working around here.

LHG - exactly. "Russian roulette?" Great analogy/bulls eye perfect! I didn't realize they had reputation for shoddy home improvements yrs. ago as so many were in the trades. We could all write books -- even with short-term experience of JWs.

NEVER! Just not my thing nor do I trust the ads. I try to research items a bit and reluctantly signed up again for Consumer Report - I don't know how trustworthy reviews/ratings are. I ran through a Fry's Electronics store once with friend and noticed an entire section of TV products.
