  Do You Think “Higher Education “Is All That??

  as jehovah’s witnesses, we were regularly told how awful a college education is.

  i’m no longer associated with the religion but i am not so pro university.

  it’s not because i think you are better off without a degree.

  Yes - I think one can't have enough education, however, with the political climate schools are not really teaching people to think for themselves. The curriculum doesn't seem to be what it once was. You have to believe in one side and if you don't agree with that position you'll be ridiculed and who knows what other negatives you will suffer. It's reality. Students are being brainwashed - this now starts in grade school (elementary) and clearly in high school and college.

  Students need to hear more than one side of the party - differing opinions freely discussed but now it's difficult. Yrs ago different speakers were allowed on campuses -- far left/far right. Now the administrations are only encouraging one political side and find many ways to control the political agenda.

  Older JWs who go Overseas to Live

  i know of two older couples who have gone overseas to live in recent years.

  one could be classified in my opinion as a “need greater” although i think it might also have to do with getting more for their money.

  the other i think was seeking out a cheaper and more naturally beautiful environment to live in their retirement years.. what i wondered is if these people are disenchanted and bored with life in the states.

  WOW - one has to be brave to venture life in Central America altho US is scary enough! I know Mexicans who have experienced horror stories visiting family/living in Central America - one family in Caribbean. I know this use to be popular but only desperate JWs would be forced to do this.

  Know of 2 families that have beautiful homes in Mexico -- they drive to border, park their normal car and drive into Mexico in beater/clunker. I think Puerto Vallarta might be tad safer and know family that lives there half the year and love it.

  Who the heck cares what 'we' (the the goon squad) needs in their fake scare tactic Armageddon. They sure as hell need doctors and lawyers all over the world in realty (NOW) to keep the circus alive. Cult is filty rich off of fantasy fear.

  Melbourne Convention Protest

  hi all.. i didn't want to post this in private because i want all to see what i saw.. the protest at the melbourne convention went superbly in my opinion.

  the protesters and their banners were more than eloquent and succinct.

  you could feel the emotion they all conveyed.

  What Do You Think About Banning Plastic Bags?

  we need to save the planet so we have to stop using plastic bags!

  in massachusetts, the new law will be going into effect soon.

  if you go food shopping, you only cat get paper bags.. what is your opinion of the state banning plastic bags?

  After reading about the oceans, etc., and reminded about all the marine life horror, I'll go back to using those grocery bags I bought -- unfortunately, most of that plastic in the oceans is coming from China but that's no excuse for me to be a plastic addict. It's just convenient and cleaner util it's not. Recycling is easy to do and we've had yrs. to practice but giving up plastic trash liners is going to be quite an adjustment.

  Plastic wrap in rolls at Home Depot is fabulous to cover the carpet with -- the contractors use it to cover/protect carpet when they're working. The heavy Ram board (cardboard-type paper) works great over hard surface areas but it rips, tears, looks filthy, and you can't clean it off during construction but is a good protective measure on granite/marble, ceramic, floors. Wish I could cover the furniture with it/lolol as my husband doesn't worry much about his ink pens -- I've had to replace end section of the 'L' leather sofa (new) that I waited 10 mos for order to be made delivered/installed -- safe products wouldn't even remove the ink w/out slight damage/unreal! Hey, just decided plastic cover like the 1950s - plastic is fantastic!. If only they made to fit -- would be perfect to cover seating area subject to marker pen/ink.

  Who can live without plastic bags?! Have to buy (inexpensive) ones for the individual trash containers throughout house and what would we throw our garbage into - can't depend on the trash compactor or disposal for everything. Need to have my groceries bagged into something that's sanitary and hasn't been sitting around like those goofy pictured self-owned bags. I don't like those stupid owner-shopping bags - they get dusty and yucky carrying food in them and need to be sanitized. I even use plastic bag to line the cup holder area in my car so it stays clean and dust free and the car wash people aren't spraying weird cleaning/dust chemicals into them - can't live without plastic it's fantastic!

  i think it's really sad that people that wasted countless hours preaching for a cult are deciding to waste more hours on that same cult after leaving it.. get a hobby.

  What Did You Do With All Your Meeting Clothes?

  i literally had dozens of suits.

  i still have more dress clothes than anyone i know.

  i did give some suits and clothing away and to be honest, i still like wearing a nice suit.. brothers and sisters, are all your “ meeting clothes” still in your closet?

  I'm glad they're not following the protocol of their GB sales directors - they probably can't afford both normal clothing and cult coverings. The ones I know or knew of here dress very conservative -- longer skirt lengths, no questionable necklines/c-thru clothing or textured/fish net hosiery, no ostentatious/costume jewelry, etc. Very modest which is good. Probably normal for the older people but I've heard there are many young ones in couple halls (strange) but city has unusual dynamics.
