  don't quote any scriptures during the watchtower study that are not in the paragraph.. don't quote the governing body or anything from the broadcast ever.

  it might be true but it is not true truth if it is coming out of your mouth if you have been critical of the governing body.

  especially so if your criticism is valid and you have dared to support you view with scriptures, most especially the words of jesus christ.. anyone know of other new tactics?.

  They were yelling yrs. ago from platform not to quote scriptures in paragraph. I understood because a couple of JWs liked to show off their bible knowledge and blather on and on.

  In the USA, why so often is the vote for President just a vote against someone?

  in my lifetime, (i will include kennedy even though i was probably breast-feeding at the time), but it seems that there have been relatively few presidents that we vote "for.

  " my list would be kennedy, reagan, clinton and obama.

  i'm not talking about their politics here but who generally got voted for, instead of simply voting against.. any thoughts?.

  Eisenhower was a responsible president and has received minimal credit. He served his country and lived a very frugal life - lifestyle never changed and he received a ludicrous salary. Never fleeced taxpayers nor corrupt. Goes against the grain of Dems/handouts and I recall their vitriol long after he left office. Historians are finally revealing his accomplishments/leadership. I've 'heard' couple libertarians/independents/x-dems - one who is a Dem lifer chat about the subject.

  Most JWs don't think/reason/even read scriptures on their own accord once indoctrinated with WT. Many people weren't knowledgeable about scriptures at all until WT intervened into their lives. JWs warn Bible reading is bad outside of what the society teaches which should be a huge red flag. It's sad.
