this is one of the most aggressive watchtowers i think i have ever read.. four study articles on not "following the crowd" not following unrealities(page 13) not following false teachers, meaning apostates of course(p 15).

avoiding false teachers means "refusing to read their literature, watch tv programs that feature them, examine their web sites, or add comments to their blogs.

Kensho --- it's nice to be able to come here and vent toward ANY ORGANIZATION that professes to be of GOD, OR OTHERWISE, that hurts innocent children --- (not to mention thousands of others) especially when some of us have to be around witness family/acquaintances in the world and be the one who remembers we are to act christ like ---- unlike the majority of witnesses at the halls. I heard active witnesses say worse at the halls about each other and the clergy class than on this board when i attended.

I commend anyone who is actively pursuing a course to expose the evil of this religion and protect the innocent, especially the CHILDREN, as the religion has gotten away with murder because of the laws protecting them in this country. MAKES ME SICK!

WONTLEAVE -- yeah, but your statement "The truth has never been popular, throughout the Bible" was a beautiful thing compared to evil watchtower's bible truth and allowing raping of children and blood deaths and like the middle east despots control of education - women, anyway, watchtower allows no education for either sex. those old vipers in nyc or whatever 5 star hotel they hide in sure want educated doctors, lawyers, bla bla, back there to benefit themselves. too bad they don't have psychiatrists to give them lobotomies.

I ended my bible study today

i have officially stopped my bible study today.

i have been trying to for weeks (after 10 years of on/off studying).

it got to the stage where i was asking too many of those questions that made everyone feel uncomfortable.

Still Thinking --- you did the right thing and please hang around and ask questions and participate. there are some very knowledgeable people on this board and you can learn so much more from them than the watchtower. they take time and go into depth explaining and quoting scriptures -- they are so accommodating on some of my rudimentary questions and i learn so much. since it's memorial time in dubland, there's been good info/scriptures/debate w/respect to Jesus last supper w/his disciples and how the w/tower has twisted the true meaning to their own slant and how/what to really celebrate and observe w/it's true meaning for all.

It's a journey for sure.

i think it's all of the above --- to ourselves and others. to me it means the PAIN OF REALITY AND NO MORE DENIAL no matter no matter no matter. i realize denial is there to protect us until we can FACE THE PAIN (and for some that is NEVER), but it's the only road to freedom and true peace. we see glimpses of truth (being true to ourself but quickly dismiss because we can't accept).

i like what you say above --- about not being false to others in regard to who we are as a person inside --- the truth about ourselves is critical and our motives/agendas as well as others. most of what we say/do is out of an inward FEAR and inward self-focus that developed out of a need to PROTECT OURSELF AND SURVIVE as children. they say that people lie more about themselves to their closest friends than anyone else which seems odd when they can see more truth than others. your thought "to find oneself" is maybe introspection --- WHY WE are and do what we do (a product of our environment) and join certain religions, pick toxic friends, choose unhealthy people to love us ---

i think we WANT WHAT WE WANT as unhealthy as it may be for us at times until we live by line to be true to self.

nova produced a program on the history of the bible with many archaeologists concerning what excavations in israwl and the middle east have revealed concerning the bible.

i've read most of the revelations before in the new york times and other places.

the watchtower bible and tract society could not hold a candle to the experts interviewed.

Went to AA meeting last night

about twelve months ago i came to the realisation that i am an alcoholic.. for the past year i have been having breaks from the drink of about a week at a time but as i cannot deal with stress well i always seem to turn to alcohol as an escape.. i have realised the last few weeks that i need help to stop drinking but do not want that stigma of attending aa meetings or getting counselling for my addiction.. yesterday i decided to phone the aa and so attended a meeting last night where i found to my surprise many people who were going through the same process as me but had decided not to carry on turning to drink.. i dont know if many in the us understand the culture of drinking and pubs in britain?

but it is an integral part of uk society, friday and saturday nights are all about going out and having a good time drinking as much as we can.

so for an alcoholic it can be a nightmare.. i just wanted to share this with and would like to continue to post in the future about it.. yours paul.

even though they say the success rate is low in these groups there's obviously magic. i've attended a couple of co-dependent, 12-step, meetings w/friend (of course, knew i didn't deed it for myself - DUH) and was so impressed. many people join this group after AA for more introspection and help dealing with life after conquering alcohol. i wish i'd make time for this group in my life as there are many addictions other than alcohol -- abusive families, RELIGION, control-freaks, etc. some churches offer these groups even for non-members (maybe it's a good recruiting tool) but there are endorsed meetings in corporate settings available. i think these 12-step groups are great and the price is right. many people are without insurance and many therapists and med/professionals highly recommend them, as indicated in many posts.
