Has anyone here ever attended the WT's Annual General Meeting ?
by wobble inmy sister has been invited this year, i would be interested to hear first hand experience of what she may expect, the kind of (boring) stuff that will be on the agenda, and anything else.. why invite someone like her ?
i guess a kindly c.o has identified her as a loyal wt drone who has had no recognition.
she has been in full-time work for the wt for over forty years, most of those as a special pioneer, she never married, totally devoted to the religion.. nice that she is to be acknowledged, of course she will have to pay for her flight (from europe) and other expenses, and god, sorry, i mean the governing body, (the wt god), will not know who she is, or that she is there.. i can imagine that when she returns home ,she will be feted as a celebrity for getting so close to god , oops, done it again, the gb, and people will be under the impression that she is privy to some new "light".. what is the reality of this farce ?.

i heard a witness several yrs. ago blathering about someone in her congregation was allowed/invited, whatever, to attend and it's a status thing. this particular person had provided retired CO's w/a shack (which was giving of her) in her backyard to live out their remaining days and part of a big power family. the informant was a wee bit jealous (she was stupid) because her poor husband, a doctor, had given and given and given --- for free, no less to these circus clowns.

What's the first thing you did when you got out?
by fallen_princess ini was thinking about all the things i missed out on growing up as a jw.
many of those things i will never be able to do anyway, like join in any extracurriular activities or go to senior prom.
but one of the first things i did when i got out if the borg was join a ballroom dance class and go to a nightclub with some of the students in the class.

tried to get in touch with a couple of old friends -- took a painting class and really celebrated xmas. i was so happy shaking it off and knowing i'd never again have to deal with those people.

Fallout from the apostate-bashing WT article?

my own analysis of its more blatantly farcical claims (including that of apostates being "mentally diseased") can be seen here.. what i really wanted to know is - what has the fallout been?
has it created any horror-stories within people's families or homes, etc?

The Meetings Really Suck Lately
by Pika_Chu inwarning.....profanity ahead...wimps may want to leave this page.... perhaps it's stupid bringing this up when all you guys are up to speed with how the gb is full of shit anyway, but i just feel like complaining about it.
the borg is royally fucked up, and we need to call them out on it.. all the talks are about armageddon being close, closer than ever, etc.
you know, the usual crap...we've all heard a thousand times...puke puke.... then there's the added factor that everyone in my congo is actually convinced that they cannot miss even a single meeting.

maybe starting a life in another city might be something to consider. after all, one has to live/work where it's profitable. if you're having panic attacks make appointment for therapy and use your mental condition as an excuse. i know two younger individuals (raised in the cult) who use mental problems and nausea/extreme dizziness to keep from attending. gotta love it! one attends once in a blue moon to make her mother happy.
if individuals could walk away from the cult no matter no matter it might diminish its power, but i do understand why many are stuck inside and it makes me sick. where's the law of protection for religious freedom in this country for the individual. talk about a law protecting corporations/religions AND NOT THE INDIVIDUAL, but i won't go there.

it would consist only of actual photographic scans of various documents, articles, photographs such as these from marvin shilmer's blog: (see next panel).
there would be no extraneous non-official text whatsoever.. it would be published the size of an old life magazine and sent anonymously to jw's at their homes.. the cover would clearly contain the words: "all contents originally published by watchtower bible &tract society".

i think your idea is great and i've often wondered why there's not another publication or something out there as a rebuttal or in opposition to this cult to save people. Maybe some members would be curious enough to peek into.

Japanese dolphin slaughter..........
by watersprout inthe japanese dolphin slaughter commenced on the 7th of september and will continue through to march of next year.
thousands upon thousands of dolphins/whales will lose their lives.
those that do survive will be sent to places like seaworld where they will be forced to perform for us humans.. this video is very upsetting.... makes you realize how truly evil members of the human race are.... i wouldn't suggest watching if you are weak stomached.. just wanted to share as many people don't realize that this goes on.

for an opener --- being too stupid not to trust my own perceptions. i had decided i didn't trust the religion but then caved!!! STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES. i wasn't good at accepting reality. i immediately saw the hypocrisy and evil so there's no excuse. i went along with the same status quo of an evil bio-family -- same thing!!!
