Recently heard rumor, can anyone substantiate?

so a friend of mine said that one of their family members told them the following:.

... was telling me last monday that entire congos were being dissovled due to individualized thinking.. .

now, i haven't heard anything specific, and if there were widespread rumors i'm fairly confident we would hear them here.

my name is michelle and from the age of 3 i was brought up one of jw.

my parents became witnesses whilst in germany when my father was stationed there with the british army.

we then came back to england where i lived in darwen, lancashire, and attended darwen, bolton and blackburn congregations over the next 18 years.

Book - Richard Dawkins

anyone out there --- please be so kind to recommend the dawkins' children book re evolution.

i've ordered magic of reality but have a feeling it's the wrong book.

didn't see a children's book listed at amazon.

cantleave --- someone new just posted here few days ago and they'd already read God Delusion (and maybe something else re/evolution) and still believe in God. I'm thinking this is unusual.

Amelia --- thanks for your imput. I think a thread should be started discussing The Magic Book or one of the other basics and throw in your fav paragraphs, chapters, whatever, that really are educational/enlightening. You guys are so educated and versed on this topic and so many of us aren't. Just have basic evolution 101. If you're bored/tired of dealing with this --- reference the topics/posts and how to find them.

I've been ordering all these books and art supplies/books and I don't have time for anything --- crazy, I know, but I've got to read this book.

i realize i peddle carl sagan like christians peddle jesus but i think every one of us who has survived the watchtower, regardless of our current beliefs, should be able to appreciate this.

in the path to freedom (chapter from one of his books), sagan was discussing frederick (bailey) douglass's life in the early 19th century and his quest for literal freedom.

see if anything here sounds familiar:.

SBCheez --- you are great/thanks. Hopefully my computer will get me there. It's really going ballistic probably because I've dropped it one too many times. It gets so heated up that it's difficult to use as a laptop plus strange screens are appearing.

Were you home schooled? Well, I don't know what my excuse is -- loved biology and science . . . obviously not enough. I certainly wasn't educated much about evolution.

Thanks to all. Stephen Hitchens --- Terry recommended his book(s). I wanted to start w/something basic and have viewed something recently (here) of Hitchens and it was excellent. Appreciate your recommendations/insight.

Regardless if one is an athiest or xtian, heathen, whatever, society has always tried to solve/remedy the starvation problem by providing funds, willingly or not via taxes, and private donations but that hasn't worked because the ruling greed (political rulers or someone) confiscates anything that is of a monetary value and the starving, poverty, class seldom receive any help --- one pathetic scenario.

It's always been a priority for many good religions (in comparison to watchtower) to help feed the hungry and come to the rescue along w/many humanitarian org's efforts but obviously has not been successful. Taxpayers contribute a percentage for aid. W/the catholic church's control (Africa) of the masses birth control is forbidden and it's a never ending horror story -- of course, the nuns are given birth control in case they're violated but so much for love of one's neighbor -- the rest of the female populace. W/out education to control the population it's a never ending battle in some places.

The eye for eye law of the land was not quite exacting like it sounds. A victim or injured individual had to plead one's cause before the judicial system of that time before any punishment/compensation. It's just a pay back phrase that sounds good to some. I think the majority of mankind practices payback and live w/out moral code to the detriment of society.

I agree w/NC in many ways but the demanding of one's humanity seems as delusional as waiting for God to remedy the problem.

I think you should definitely start a book thread. Sounds like Sagan's book should be required reading if it's bamboozle protection. If only we could go back in time --- Knowledge is everything/DUH!

If God reads the heart (and knows the outcome for each individual and it's not a roll of the dice) then why the wait. He's patient with all so there must be a reason we can't comprehend.
