there has already been much discussion about how the watchtower society has declared in australia that going door to door is part of a personal ministry.
this seems to be a lame attempt to avoid liability considering that they require time reports and have formal meetings for field service at the kingdom hall.. this is a bit of a dilemma.
reporting time and formal meetings for field service are important methods of control, however it's not clear if the organization is willing or able to handle the potential liability that may come from this.. imagine what would happen if they lost these methods of control.
Has there ever been a defector or turncoat from the financial arena of WT? The bean counters must get a cut 😂 -- not sure how they maintain privacy and protect/secure the group's secrecy other than execution of confidentiality agreements/clauses thus paying/retaining professional accounting firms. Use the in-house volunteers for basic bookkeeping only.
Professional CPA firms aren't inexpensive - can't imagine their legal/accounting costs.
no more watchtower and awake mags every 2 weeks to place.
no private home book studies.
no more "essential" spiritual food meals 5x a week.
Didn't they implement new contribution plan? Was the recent rant for funds to jog their memory and fire up the adherents -- whatever they're called these days -- members not publishers or some krazy. They know who follows the rules and regs re/contributing so will they ostracize or down vote 'sincere ones' from the pecking order if they can't spring/hand over funds! Must be very difficult for some. Most likely, same ole die hards are paying as usual as they plod along for blessings plus toss in extra bucks for the corporation's begging efforts.

Vegas is great -- incredible shopping (step below Rome, Italy) and more 5-Star restaurants than any other place. Beautiful weather in the fall, winter, spring and rated the most popular place people want to relocate. Great prices on homes compared to California (my beloved Laguna as well as other locations) but only on small/medium ones. Luxury homes/prestigious areas are not a bargain. Employment opportunities are great - capitalism at it's best.
Great entertainment and now home of the Formula 1 races not to mention Vegas Golden Knights, the Stanley Cup Winners, the Aces women basketball champions, the Las Vegas Raiders and possibly a major league baseball team. Two Nascar race events yearly - professional golf tournament presently going on (Shriners), UNLV medical/dental/law schools and Las Vegas fabulous strip w/multi-million visitors annually. From Vegas you can shoot off to the Grand Canyon, Lake Mead, Mt. Charleston, Red Rock Canyon, Death Valley and when temperatures are hot so cal w/magnificent beaches is easy drive. I head off to my beloved 2nd home Laguna Beach.
In addition to all of the above the Super Bowl will be held in LV in February 2024 - woohoo.

Yup -- "hours" measuring one's spirituality and status in the hall, i.e., pecking order to keep the slaves in line -- just like Jesus would have done - not. That reporting was nothing but a farce but it was control by the powers that be who make sure there are no gods before them. With people leaving (if true) they're figuring out there are lots of gods (and safer religions to join) out there.

Great points - as Scenic Viewer says you don't have to do this/that the other. No one makes positive statements about the religion but quite the opposite. It's one embarrassing tax-free entity that expects its adherents to not only serve full time at the expense of neglecting family, career, or pursuing a balanced, normal, life plus die per their non-educated/non-medical interpretations re/life-saving medical. Maybe they've softened up on this but the world knows and will never forget. Who would actually be a member (unless forced re/family) after a click on the internet. People must be fleeing or dying off, few recruits and they're desperate. Totalitarians/authoritarians do not relinquish power unless forced and money must be tight.

Know very little about Buddhism other than couple people who've figurines sitting in their place of work (manicurist) or home. Told they do not celebrate xmas but accept gifts from clients during the season and have the social/business skills of poisonous snakes.
