by SouthCentral ini went to a christening at a church today, a black church.
it was an incredible experience!!
women were an active part of the service, and the people were very welcoming.

Jehovah's Witnesses came by today.
by 3rdgen inthis morning i was in our front yard sitting down pulling weeds when i saw 3 people slowly walking on the sidewalk in my direction.
2 of them were young, handsome, clean shaven, wearing nice crisp white shirts and perfectly tailored black slacks.
they could have been mormons except.... there was a 60ish portly woman wearing a frumpy dress and ugly sandals.

The Good News Is: The Great-Crowd-Of-Other-Sheep Do Not Exist
by Sea Breeze inthe watchtower conflates two different groups into one fictional church-age group that according to the watchtower, are saved by works and faith/membership in the jehovah witness organization.
according to watchtower, only the now mostly dead 144k receive the promises of god regarding justification .
everbody else missed the boat and must work for their justification for a thousand years.

Good topic, Sea B -- hopefully, browsing JWs will appreciate a non WT interpretation or anyone who believes in the Bible. -

by BoogerMan innot just jw's, but countless others (evangelicals etc.
) are claiming that we're in the "last days.".

Holding a grudge
by LongHairGal ini read something recently on reddit (not sure what thread) where a person related how some jw told them that ‘they hold a grudge’.. this reminded me of something an old jw acquaintance said to me some years back when i related my bad experience in the religion.. so, apparently, jehovah’s witnesses feel they should be forgiven for anything.
people should forget all about it and act like nothing happened and be charitable towards them, etc… when i read in james and ephesians i got the sense ‘holding a grudge’ was referring to the things average people do to offend each other.. i don’t see it applying to a religion that claimed to speak for god and who engendered hateful and unchristian attitudes towards people.. i know because i experienced this.. in addition, some people’s lives were damaged by listening to faulty teachings and interference in things that were clearly none of anybody’s business.. one case in point: them knocking worldly careers and now there are thousands of destitute jws in senior years with nothing.. then in 2023 the religion does away with a century old teaching about counting hours in the ministry.
meanwhile, i got judged over this.

Longy -- I never understood how they could treat others so horribly and profess to serve God and be in fear of him. In my opinion, many were the antithesis of caring, loving, Christians, or ones striving to be Christ like. No compassion or empathy what their associates/others endure in order to work hard and make it to a meeting. They're trained to only recognize/help one if a pioneer -- WT has created these subhumans.
The religion structures them to focus on one thing - serve the WT. The gods handed your life back to you - you're the winner - no regrets.

The audacity of old acquaintance -- hope this was before you made your exit.
They knew the yrs. were flying by and they'd be dependent on the government/handouts and how they managed when younger is beyond me. It takes hard work and effort to plan for the future and why they felt they were unique and avoided reality -- WOW! It's called being irresponsible. If you don't work you don't eat -- plain and simple in my book.

Longy -- referring to anyone who has suffered needlessly by abusive disordered characters/religions, etc.
It's a sad situation for many JWs and elderly people.
