when i got out of the dumbs, i use to cuss non-stop i think as a pathetic tactic to make worldy people think i was a little more worldy.
i still swear from time to time, and foul language does not offend me at all, but i was talking to my sister the other day, she just turned 21, has discovered alcohol, is currently on public reproof, and i think is really close to being on her way out herself.
she cursed like a sailor the whole time i was talking to her.
I swore like a trooper when I was little - my Dad throught it was great. Then my parents became JW's when I was 5, and apprently I stopped swearing immediately when asked.
I am swearing too much, and sometime my kids copy me, the other day a car pulled out in front of us and my 5 year old said "Dad was that a mother f****** idiot" - when we stopped laughing I had to explain that those were bad words that should never be used by kids, at school [they go to a catholic school1], or in public.
She has now had enough catholic education to think god doesn't like bad words. We really like the Black Eyed Peas and went to their concert as a family. My daughter said "dad, god doesn't like the black eyed peas!" i asked why and she said "becasue they use bad bad words". I thouht fast and said "But god forgives people" - she seems happy with this and so the Black Eyed Peas are OK again.

I got 'free' tickets to the Wellington / Lions game. It was fun but cold and wet so I'm going to watch on Saturday on the 43" with a roaring fire and plenty of DB Export dry during the game, with 42 below Vodka & Kahlua [black Russians] to celebrate the AllBlacks win.

i have been df'd for over 3 years (for the third time... you know it's the charm).
i have an 8 year old who is being taught by my parents the same things that i was taught, including how we can't celebrate birthdays.
i have been doing a little research on the origin of worldly customs, such as weddings and birthdays only to find that there are many wedding customs that witnesses have adopted that have pegan origins.

There is nothing unscriptual about birthdays - even the witnesses admit this HOWEVER as there is no record of Jesus attending one, and the only 2 mentions in the bible resulted in beheadings they choose not to celerbrate them. They just love making rules so the JW's can break them.
Make your kids day, and celebrate their birthday, it great for the kid, and good for you too.
Given the whole JW thing is sooooo freakin boring for kids it would be nice to see them relent but noooooo. This was and remains one of my big issues with the JW's, I guess having nothing done at all for my 21st birthday [it's THE birthday in NZ], and being expected to trot off to the ministry school instead eally set my heart agains the witnesses, and I sure resented my parents at the time.

I remember the last district convention I went to - I was 22, I had coloured my hair, I had a hot car with mags, spoliers, a thumping great CD stereo [this was almost 20 years ago], I was dating a sexy "worldy girl [actually I was doing a lot more than that].
I had bad boy attitude.
It was like a babe magnet.
So Richie you could have a lot of fun. I can see from your post you got attitide my boy, and all those good little JW girls seem to like the bad boys. Have fun.

Well smelly seems to have hit a nerve, including mine! I don't think smelly get's it, and if he ever was a witness he wasn't much of one. Basically if you tried to be a good obedient witness for too long it is going to reduce your life choices, obviously if smelly doesn't have any issues he can't have really embraced the 'truth' so it's impacts are going to be less.
In my case I didn't go to university, but I did get a job in Telecommunications which has given me a good career - I wasn't in to it enough to go pioneering like many of my friends did. So the impacts on me - not so much. However many of my old pioneering friends are now on what I'd consider the bones of their arse - still renting, no savings, trusting on Jehovah to provide - these people are genuinely hoodwinked!
A guess I was neutral inactive until recently when I found out just what sort of doctrine changes and lies the JW's have been telling people. As I have peop[le I care about still in the borg it does piss me off - it's unlikely that they will ever see what has been held out as bait, nor will they fully enjoy whats on offer here and now.Anyway a lot of the great people on this site have experienced 1st hand the injustice of an organsiation they trusted - and they have taken responisbility - they are here and most are safely out. Try, if you have the capability, to understand what it would be like to have those who may have been your closest friends treat you like were some skin head racist freak, total shunning! Imagine if you were born into this and had been brainwashed from birth then to end up shunned - yes this could cause a tad of justifed bitterness.
The people on this site are for the most part getting on with their lives, and sharing via the web their experiences so that others don't feel they have to go through it alone, it is a healing process.

Two 40 minute periods of intesnse physical competition.
The second of the 3 international tests will be Saturday NZ time, her in Wellington NZ. We are being unindated with the "Barmy Army" wearing red and attempting to drink the bars dry.

Loose connection to JW type topics: this was the game I could not play on Saturday when we were no part of the world - ironically OK for Dad and all the other JW men to watch it on TV.
what is your daily household irritation?
for me one of the household daily irritations is dead light bulbs.
i often day dream about having every light socket , indoors and out with new light bulbs.
For me it's the bloody roof leaking - 14 leaks so far. I have buckets in the ceiling and lots of silicon sealant but no luck. #**!@!
