Do JWs even mention the 'generation' teaching to new studies?

the other thread got me to wondering if people who are studies ever even learn about the current generation teaching.. is the current generation teaching part of the book that is used with studies now?

Although we cannot measure the exact length of “this generation,” we do well to keep in mind several things about the word “generation”: It usually refers to people of varying ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period; it is not excessively long; and it has an end. (Ex. 1:6 Eventually Joseph died, and also all his brothers and all that generation.) How, then, are we to understand Jesus’ words about “this generation”? He evidently meant that the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation. That generation had a beginning, and it surely will have an end. The fulfillment of the various features of the sign clearly indicates that the tribulation must be near. Funniest Thing to happen during a meeting?

i am sure all of us have laughed at something that happened at the kingdom hall or assembly.. the first one i can think of is a brother giving a talk on voting and saying " why is it that men sit iin pubs and discuss how bad the economy is and the cost of everything and yet when the 'erection" (election) comes up they never do anything about it.. my brother in his best beavis n butthead voioce said " huh huh he said erection".

we sat for the next 45 mins trying hard not to laugh.. of course, i got the look from the elders and the talk about not laughing.. .

With me, it was when I was controlling the audio mixer desk, song was playing and I stepped back, tripped on the power cord pulling it out from the wall, song stopped. Everyone continued singing but with no music.

“When you are tired or under stress, we must never reason that the way to deal with stress is to cut back on spiritual activities. That is the worst thing we could possibly do”.

(Does the Bible agree that this is the worst thing we could possibly do? and if so, where?) Instead of blaming the things in Para 16 from this article for stress, Maybe the Watchtower should be explaining in detail how to display the fruitage of the spirit, and other basic Bible principals that could help control this stress.

You said you were in Chch a few days ago, so was I. Last weekend the Convention was held in Chch, It would have been interesting to see what would have happened to the convention arrangement if the quake had of happened a week ago.

On this subject, who else read in the "Questions from Readers" from the study only Watchtower of Feb 15th 2010, pg 22. (Mag only as the download edition excluded it) The question was: "Under what circumstances might rebaptism be considered?"

Have a read of it if you can. Not one bible scripture mentioned. but basicity you can get rebaptized again if you were living your life in a way that if you were alreadly baptized you would be DF.....

Are Earthquakes Really On The Increase?

It sounds like you could be talking about the same graph. If so, then verify the link on the graph. The link says that the data used to generate this chart is " Selected earthquakes of general historic interest"

Some other signs that this graph is fake:

1: According to this chart there was only 1 earthquake in 1994, the real number of earthquakes for that year can be found at: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eqarchives/significant/sig_1994.php

2: There was no increase of quakes after 1914, as they would have you also believe.

We know the facts about these kind of graphs, the problem is that no JW would believe us, no matter how much prove we have. The CO can not be wrong. Even trying to show someone the true facts about earthquakes would have you labelled apostate.

signs of the end of times - CO talk

the co yesterday had proof, that we are definetely in the last seconds of the end times.. he said: "never in the history of mankind, has all the signs of jesus' "end times" happened simultaneously".. earthquakes have happened, pestilence same, wars same, etc etc............. but now all these are being seen together and alarmingly so.

We had this talk a few weeks back, what I couldn't belive was that our CO used the graph found at " http://www.thehorizonproject.com/earthquakes.cfm " to prove an increase in earthquakes in the last 10 years. This is the 2nd time I have seen this graph used in a talk in the hall.

Unfortunately they have never checked the source data, (the claim were it comes from is enough) because it makes it very clear that that data is only a selection of earthquakes over the last 100 years

when it says "peak pubs" and "average pubs", does this number include unbaptized publishers or is it only baptized publishers?.

That is what I always thought, some witness's think that this number is baptized publisers only. Even when the CO reads out the cong reports.
