Many of the Conventions now use low power FM radio to transmit the program. During the program I notecied a number of people near me listing in to the program on their FM radio. So I took out my little MP3 FM transmitter that I had modifed with an antenna wire to gave it a greater range.Tuned it onto the same freq that the convention was using. Instantly everyone listening in within about a 10 metre radius took out their little radios and started trying to retune.

Field Service Requirements
by DATA-DOG inhas there ever been any official letters stating the amount of field service required to be considered exemplary?
usually the number given is 10hrs, but if you look up " 10 hours " in the cd-library you get 14 hits.
none from the bible of course, and only 3-5 are related to field service.

Right through out the 1990’s I was used for setting up the stage, training people how to operate the mixing desk, microphones, behind the magazine counter etc, and all this time my average was around 5hrs a month. Then I moved congregations (1999-2000) and after almost a year of not being asked to help out, I was told it was because my average hours were not the same has the national average (here in New Zealand that was 9 hours, I think it still is), and if I wanted to reach out I needed to average 9 hours. This was the first time I had ever heard of this form of judging a brothers spirituality based on field service hours. Instantly that went against numerous scriptures I had learnt over the previous 10 years and I could not and would not change my hours simply to reach some man made target. It wasn’t long after that that the required target to reach in that congregation was lowered to 5hrs simply because there weren’t enough brothers getting to that magical 9 hours.

Para 10: ...a spouse may become an inactive publisher…
Para 15: … has the Christian been negligent
about Bible study, inconsistent in meeting
attendance, and irregular in the
ministry?
The whole study mainly blamed poor spirituality on the reason for marriage problems. But in all the divorces that I have known within the congregations, (and there are a lot over the years) I can’t think of one that poor spirituality can be blamed.
Para 18: … Consider Linda, who was mentioned
earlier. Her marriage eventually
ended in divorce, although she had
put many years of effort into trying to
save it. Does she feel that she wasted
her time? “Not at all,” she says. “My
efforts gave a good witness to onlookers….
. “My efforts gave a good witness to onlookers”? Who are these onlookers? Could it have been those onlookers that caused the problems? And what possible good witness could come out of a divorce?

"Overlapping Generations"... one year later...
by Alfred inwow, it's hard to believe it's already been about a year since this subject was covered in the wt study at kindgom halls around the globe... let's read it just one more time, so we don't forget just how ridiculous this sounded when we first read it.... watchtower (study edition), april 15th, 2010 issue, pages 27-29:.
"this magazine has long been used by the faithful and discreet slave as the primary channel for dispensing increased light.
... what does this explanation mean to us?

Almost word for word what we read in the April 15th 2012 days text:
"This generation will by no means
pass away until all these
things occur."—Matt. 24:34
And the Comment: Although we cannot measure the exact length of “this generation,” we do well to keep in mind several things about the word “generation”: It usually refers to people of varying ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period; it is not excessively long; and it has an end. (Ex. 1:6 Eventually Joseph died, and also all his brothers and all that generation.) How, then, are we to understand Jesus’ words about “this generation”? He evidently meant that the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation. That generation had a beginning, and it surely will have an end. The fulfillment of the various features of the sign clearly indicates that the tribulation must be near. By maintaining your sense of urgency and keeping on the watch, you show that you are keeping up with advancing light and following the leadings of holy spirit.—Mark 13:37 But what I say to YOU I say to all, Keep on the watch.” w10 4/15 2:13, 14 -

Whatever is read out from the platform in the form of a letter from the GB has to be totally believed by all, no questions asked or else....what better way to convince us that there is growth.

This letter was read out in our Cong at both meetings about 2 weeks ago. The letter brought out that the main reason for closing the NZ Bethel was due to the rapid increase of people becoming JW's and that because of this they needed to simplify the arrangment to better cater for the fast growth. This letter mentioned more than once that the reason was due to the increasing of numbers. Odd, both Aust and NZ only had a 1% increase over the last service year. But because the letter said that there are increases then we must believe it… You could see everyone’s ones minds ticking over thinking that this is yet another sign; it is a positive step forward, etc. Also the Bethelites would be taken good care of by being sent to where they would be useful. I think this letter would be pinned up on the notice board, I will have another read of it next time I’m at the meeting…

Notice where it says: ""the word “generation”: It usually refers to people of varying ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period".
I looked up a number of different dictionaries and found no definitions of generation that agree with 2 lives overlapping, in fact they mostly say the exact opposite. So how can it be said that it "usually refers" to overlapping lives when no dictionary agrees?
