  london bethel: last year a couple in their fifties were laid off from bethel and made special pioneers.

  in january they will be demoted to regular pioneers.

  been reading for about 2 and a half years, thought i would take the plunge and sign up.. my circumstances... i live in uk, serving as ms. i am fully awake.

  i can not leave due to family, so just treating the meetings as a bit of a social club.

  i would like to give out more details, but i think you all know the drill.. complete disillusionment and i suppose natural curiosity woke me up.. don't know what else to say right now, just hello, and i hope to get to know some of you guys better.

  Hi Old Major

  What was it that cracked the protective shell of the WT for you? What was the main issue or issues? For me personally it was the lying about what they claimed they knew about the 1914 date in the 40 years leading up to 1914. (As published in WT mags from before 1980 - Now). It was only when I read the old WT books (Study of the Scriptures - Vol 2) from that (early 1900's) time period that the real origin of 1914 and what they taut during that time came to light, vastly different from what they want you to believe today. In fact bringing up this truthful information to any witness today would have me branded "apostate" in no time. Simply because the real origin of 1914 is not the current version of truth they want you to know today. How could an organization proclaiming the truth publish misleading information regarding what they knew about 1914.

  the question i will be asking dubs at the hall this week is, "since jesus is directing the slave.... why has he done a 180..?".

  last sunday we studied how jesus is directing the slave to build an average of 5 kingdom halls a day since 2000. why has he changed his mind and gone in the completely opposite direction?.

  if this 'change' is not securely lodged in their craw by the time i am through, then i will eat my hat..

  for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.

  i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.

  What will 1914 (DROPPED) mean for you (EX-JW)

  let's pretend this might happen.

  im not asking what it will mean for the jdubs or for the organization, but what will it mean for you---- if one day you wake up and the watchtower drops the 1914 doctrine.. (you know at some point they have to, but probably not our lifetime).

  if you are disfellowshipped or disassociated and have been shunned by your parents, by your children, by you spouse or ex-husband/wife, for years or even less, will you call your relatives and ask/tell them;.

  I think we will find that when it does get dropped it will mean nothing to the average witness, no shock or WHAT! from them. I even think today that most witnesses don't even understand or know the meaning or significance of 1914. Because of this lack of knowledge regarding the importance of 1914 that most witnesses currently have, they will view the dropping of it has just more evidence that Jehovah is guiding the faithful slave. More reason to remain steadfast in this organization.

  The reason I say this is because I have tried to help some who are completely wrapped up in this religion see some hard hitting facts about the wtbts and they can't or won't even consider it, and then I get an ear full about being negative towards the organization. Can't get through to them here so very unlikely 1914 or any other changes will wake them up.

  either god is going to save them or he is not.

  since one local elder proudly told me that he never saved a nickel until just before his retirement, i've given this subject some thought.. savers are worldly..

  This is so true. I believe it stems from the idea that the end is so near. They don't need any money in the new system so use it all now. This means in most cases being Materialistic with their money while bad mouthing worldly people for spending their money on the very same materialistic items.

  A small update on the ongoing investigation by the Royal Commission

  i think you people would like to know that since the public hearing has finished.

  there has been ongoing contact made to me by the staff at the rc.

  they have been inundated with calls and the same experiences or similar ones are being related.. the staff are not backwards in coming forwards with insights that they have shared.

  Would it not make sense now that everyone take audio recordings of their shepherding calls and J hearings?
  

  We had a shepherding call with a CO once where we were asked that very question, "Do you believe the GB is the faithful slave?" I wonder what response I would have got from the CO if I answered with the same words that Geoffrey Jackson answered at the RC for that same question.

  Take personal recordings, even if it is only for a laugh later on.

  What woke you up?

  in march of 2014, i was a very active jw, a ministerial servant, gave a public talk, was an attendant for the memorial, and one of 4 cleaning captains for an international convention of 40,000+ attendees.

  so what woke me up?

  an innocent comment from a co-worker about the candice conti court case rang a bell that could not be unrung.

  For me this happened around 15 years ago. It was the misleading information published in the WTs in the 80's and 90's about how wonderful they were to know about 1914 before that date. Then I read the pre 1930 wtbts books they told a completely different story about 1914. Silly me, at the time I raised this issue with another witness and was basically told to stay away from apostate literature.
