on this auspicious day, i'd like to propose a question (half in fun and the other half not) to ask, ... if the governing body reviewed the origins of christmas and now proclaimed that it was now a matter of conscience, how many of the brotherhood would pick it up and start practicing it?.
for me, i think that very, very few would take issue of the change and disassociate themselves.
yes, many would question it in their minds for a while but since it would be a governing body sanctioned holiday, i think a very surprising large number would do so with zeal ... particularly in europe, were it still has wholesome family traditions.
when you boss kindly give you a box chocolates, for you efforts over the year.
Already no issues with accepting end if year work gifts in my area, because that's all it is, a thank you gift for your efforts over the year. However, too give a gift in return to your boss or non witness clients for the years work, well this would not to done, because this could be viewed as a Christmas related gift and we wouldn't want anyone to be stumbled.
so, first the turning in time got axed, now beards are okay, what is up next?

birthdays becoming acceptable?
... and I think that you'd be surprised how quickly it would be accepted by the rank-and-file.
Just like how quickly accepting the beard change was taken up, the excitement over how this has been clarified and now all are now wondering which brothers will be first to grow a beard, which brother will be first to give a talk at an assembly or convention sporting a beard. Exciting times....

beats yorkshire anyday.... anyway thought i would share this little account with you.. as most are of you are aware, the alarm code for about 90% of kingdom halls is 1914 (nineteen fourteen).. i t seems though that for the last 8 or 9 quick builds or refurbs in the uk, the brother who installed the numbers into the alarm control panel used the numbers 1975 and explained the number as one nine seven five not the the easier version (ninteen seventy five).. trivial joke or honest mistake, either way this poor brother has been rumbled and has to to meet with 2 elders investigating on behalf of a body of elders to see whether an apostasy charge will be brought.. he is supposed to be meeting with them over the next few days.. .

in reading about the 54 year old man being shot, i was wondering if any of you were ever shot at, or threatened with a gun.. i was in a car group where a woman came out waving around, telling us to get off her land.
in another situation a man told the car group to turn and leave or he was calling the cops.

This would have been in the mid 1990s. Went to a door, 2 young boys about 10 years old answered the door, we asked to speak to their parent's, they said they weren't home, then one boy told the other, go get the gun, he disappeared into the house, and we decided it was time to walk away too.

How many JWs today know that the official WT teachings prior to 1928, had the last days beginning in 1799, and that the heavenly kingdom was established heaven in 1874 and Christ was given rulership of that kingdom in 1878? Very few, if any, they now associate all those events to have taken place in 1914 and that they always knew that in the years leading up to 1914.
2023 will see a big push to get rank and file back to in person meetings and ministry.
they have opened a can of worms with zoom but what they really want is only in extreme illnesses cases can someone use zoom .
the only problem is they want everyone fully vaccinated which means if you didn’t go for your latest booster in the last several months then you are no longer fully vaccinated and just the same as someone who never accepted any shots right from the start.
