Wild_Thing: I was once told this by an MS friend of mine "That if I wasn't being persecuted in some way for being a JW, then I wasn't putting in enough effort in doing Jehovahs will". So yes, we need to be looking to make persecution so that we can prove to ourselfs that we have the truth.

What a far fetched conclusion that kid come up with. I have know plenty of witness kid that were brought up with parents doing all the WT stuff and today most are not in jehovahs organization.

Its at conventions with this kind of seating arrangment that sisters need to obey the FDS and wear dress's that go well below the knee cap when sitting down. If you are looking around for somewhere to sit or just walking around to fill in time, you look up toward the top of the seating area and WOW, you get to see more than empty seats. why does the watchtower have problems with jws who have jobs that require long stays and travel?
keeps them off welfare and provides for their familes, they are control freaks!.

You cannot slave for God and for Riches.”—MATT. 6:24.Its OK to go away and leave your family if you are slaving to God. But if you go away to make money (I mean slave for richies), thats apparently when you and/or your partner "will participate in homosexuality, or incest, and among children, increased behavioral and academic problems, aggression".
At least that is what the report in the footnote says.

by HeyThere inarticle is basicqlly about families where a spouse is working away from home for an extended period, etc...a foot note says basically that some studies have shown that working away from home can cause serious consequences, such as infidelity, homosexuality, or incest.

You cannot slave for God and for Riches.”—MATT. 6:24.In brackets beside Riches could also be Satan. Some of the answers at our hall just so far fetched, it got to a point that I was thinking that having any job was the same as slaving for riches. One answer I heard was that it is Satan that makes people plan financially for the future, no you should not plan for your retirement, and that you should only plan for today.
I also don't think the the above scripture has anything to do with the contents of the study. Its almost as if they wrote the study and then had to decide what scripture to use. Since when has going away from your family for work been called "Slaving for riches"? I can think of a number of both witness' and non witness' that go away for work, (including myself) and would never conclude that we are doing this because we are letting riches be our master.

"This old system of things only has a few more years left". This one really sets me off, especially when you hear those that have been witnees's for many decades still saying it. I can only put it down to these ones having a poor memory and forgetting that they said this same saying 30 - 40 years ago.

Same with the memorial invites, just imagine how many people would turn up to the the memorial if only 5% of those invited came. Remember Jehovah is speeding things up in his own time and with the help of the holy spirit, making this the obvious time for people to come to the mountain of the house of Jehovah. I'm not sure why this increase is not happening? well not here its not, and I've been waiting over 25 years to see the increased numbers of people turning to Jehovah.
