25Witness reaching out to me after 20+ years...
by SouthCentral ina few weeks ago; a witness couple from the midwest reached out to me after 25+ years.
they said they were doing a letter writing campaign and decided to reach out to me… they called on my personal cell phone, which was a little surprising.
a few days ago, a couple that i knew from over 40 years ago, sent me a text, again to my personal cell phone.. i assume that they just googled my name to get the personal info.

Watchtower Library
by Paul Bonanno inin the early 1980s together with my brothers we decided to started collecting watchtower literature and have them neatly in a library at home.
with the help of our father he gave us all the books bought during the years that he had stored in a big wooden box.. after purchasing all the literature that we had missing from the kingdom hall we decided to write letters to the world headquarters of jehovah’s witnesses in brooklyn new york as well to the british and australian branch office.. unfortunately none of our requests bear fruit as they informed us: “it is doubtful whether they are available anywhere in the world….” (ca february 23, 1983); “unable to supply the old publications you request.” (sa: sg september 20, 1983) “we will keep your letter on our files….”(sa: sg january 22, 1983).. during the years we managed to obtain many of these early books going back to 1879 when this religious organization was started.. through barbara anderson we learned that in 30 columbia heights building new york they had a warehouse storage where they kept many old literature which don kommers the assistant of vern wisegarver was responsible for.
through these publications we learned what exactly was written by charles russell and joseph rutherford regarding predictions that never came to be.

The JWs do not “discourage” you from having a library in fact you are encouraged to have one.
I had built up an extensive library of WT publications since I joined the JWs in the late 80's. Even after waking up in the early 2000's, I continued to add to my library. Then the letter from the branch asking for all old publications to be sent back to them. I kept my collection, then came the guilt pressure from my close JW family who are completely in, they kept telling me to dump my collection as we don't use these anymore, everything we need is now online they would tell me. I sold half my library, got some $$ for that, of course I was told to contribute this $$ back to WT, which didn't happen. I did end up dumping my WT volumes. I kept some of the older books, the older ones that woke me up I've kept. "Study of the scriptures vol 2 1917", creation book from 1927 to name the two publications that revealed how WT have rewritten their own history regarding the year 1914, or should I say the non 1914 date, as neither of these 2 publications even contain any reference to the 1914 date in the chapters dealing with the biblical timeline in that time period.

New WT Hisotry channel on You Tube
by Fr.RAS infor those interested in wt history you need to look at the relatively new channel over at youtube called wt-history.
stuff i have never heard of before focusing on russell and rutherford with excellent documentation.
theses two guys, jeff and paul who know this history better than anyone i have ever read with original documents, go through the history very professionally and with high accuracy.

Food Distribution from the GB/Org???
by JWTom inheard from a close relationship that their congregation is handing out food to some and the message is that it is from the gb.
this person is elderly but is not needy in any way and is very active/respected in the local cong.
they would also never embellish or say something like this unless it was the actual message.

by Balaamsass2 infor a long time, i thought pimi (physically in, mentally in) jws were unique in their inability to simply type and read the latest "google" news results about "jehovah's witnesses " or "watchtower".
however, it appears it is not uncommon for a large portion of the population purposefully to avoid facts...on purpose!

Television segment on JWs and the Australian Redress Scheme
by Listener intonight there was an 8 minute segment allocated to reporting on jws regarding child abuse and the redress scheme.
it was presented by lisa wilkinson for the project.the australian branch has issued a statement to the show advising that they will not be joining the scheme.. they state:.

No, very unlikely. This media attention only reinforces in the minds of JWs that their WT teaching is true, that the governments will turn of true religion, an event JWs have been warned about from their leaders for some time now, an event that supports the idea that the end is very very near. Since the GB's warning are coming true in this instance, JWs are continually told to remain loyal to the organization and not allow the lies of Satan's media to cause them to miss out on everlasting life. How sad that would be.

A question about the contemporary generation teaching following a conversation with a JW apologist
by Giles Gray ini would like to ask the ex-jws on this site to put their ‘apologists hat’ back on for a moment, so that i can go through the overlapping generation teaching in an attempt to make sense of it.
i apologise if these points have already been addressed on this site.a quick background for the reason for my request… having never confronted a jw apologist on the topic, i recently engaged with a jw regarding the official understanding of a ‘generation’ and unfortunately he didn’t have an answer to the points i was making.
i was left a little confused as to what the official jw response would/should be.so i was hoping that my thoughts below might be considered from an apologist’s perspective.the point in question relates to this section of the watchtower article below from 2008, as well as the jw.org video explanation of the overlapping generation:---:w08 2/15[box on page 25] can we calculate the length of “this generation”?the word “generation” usually refers to people of various ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period or event.

I like the way you have related the modern day WT generations to those found in Matt chap 1. That clearly shows the nonsense idea of an overlapping generation.
Unfortunately with JWs, whatever the GB say over rides scripture. It is a very serious sin if a JW were to openly admit that something the GB says does not make sense. You must defend that belief with your life until the GB get new light, once this overlapping generation timeframe runs out. Then the new teaching will be so clear and obvious. But not until Tony's earthly course ends.
