If 3% is supposed to be to account for inflation, wouldn't it make more sense to peg it directly against actual inflation rates?

there is a debate brewing on wikipedia over whether russell's will stated that no new publications be made by the watchtower society, and if rutherford violated his will.. the relevant portion from his will reads:as the society has already pledged to me that it will publish no other periodicals, it shall also be required that the editorial committee shall write for or be connected with no other publications in any manner or degree.. .
what's your opinion?.

the nail in the coffin of the society's understanding of the seventy years appears to be zech 1:12 and 7:1. both of these verses refer to the 70 years as ongoing rather than past events.
i'm not sure how anyone can claim the society has a "holistic" view of the 70 years when they haven't even dealt with these two verses.. i should say they haven't dealt with them at all, there is one article for each of those verses, but, iirc, the argumentation was very weak.
anyone happen to have those references off hand?.
Its interesting the use of 70 years in the bible as a sort of generic period of denunciation. Its surprising the NT writers didn't pick up on it and re-apply it, especially the writer of Matthew who loved those sorts of nutty things.

Yes, a very interesting article, thank you.
I recall a watchtower article dealing with the second instance of 70 years specifically, namely 7:5. Does anyone else recall this?

When are we getting Scholar's refutation of AlanF's nonsense? I was really looking forward to see what Neil had to say about it.

Its amazing to me how much Scholar personally attacks. I can't understand how this sort of behaviour is acceptable in any way.
