thirdwitness, why are you being such a drama queen? Do you think 1896 is modern? Have there been advances in understanding koine greek since then?

The Gentiles Times Reconsidered--Again but this Time By Using the Bible
by thirdwitness inthink about this: if seven times mean only 7 years then daniel could have simply said 7 years.
why does daniel specifically use the word 'times' rather than years?
as we have already shown daniel used the word for 7 times instead of 7 years.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this whole conversation kind of absurd? Doesn't the Watchtower teach that Jesus taught in Aremic and this was translated to Greek by Matthew? So isn't word choice pretty much irrelevant?
Besides which I had always thought that Erchomai and Parousia were interchangable? An example of this is in 1 Co 16:12 and 1 Co 16:!7.
On a side note, isn't the NWT version of 1 Thes 2:19 kind of bizarre? There the word parousia occurs twice in the vs, but NWT only uses it once. Maybe it was altered to get around some awkwardness.

AuldSoul, I'm still waiting for thirdwitness' scriptural support for Satan pre-emptive time o' trouble on earth. Evidently, Satan KNOWING he was going to be kicked out, came down and stirred up trouble. (WW1) I've never seen any statement in the watchtower or bible to support this, so it sounds to me like he is harboring private ideas.

What is the JW View of Clowning :o)??
by Seeker4 in(i threw this into the "jw view of cloning" thread yesterday, and thought maybe a few would like to have some fun with it so i gave it its own thread.
there was this comment in a letter to the body of elders about clowning in march 2003:
"as to the matter of clowning, we can see from phil.

Actually, I worked as a clown for a few years. There was another jbot sister who worked with me, and DAMN she was hot. :)
I can still do all the balloon animals. And quite a few magic tricks. You can imagine how making coins disappear was received at the hall.

Thirdwitness, got any scriptural support for Satan coming down early to cause trouble? Doesn't this sort of contradict the scripture in Revelation that the time of trouble was after Satan for cast out, not a little bit before?

Arrowstar, what did you get? I dropped in for a couple of minutes tonite, and my guild needed a healer for Hakkar, so I went and did him tonite.
5 purples? nice. I have umm.. more than that, but I still have some real junk that I'm wearing that I desperately need replaced, so it makes up for my other good gear. My chest piece is still green :( I just wish Golemagg would drop my Cenarion Vestaments when I'm there... he is a bit of a jerk.
Funny how when a boss is on "farming" status, sometimes you can get killed pretty easy by them. A funny story, we did MC last week, and had ONE wipe.. just one ... on, and I'm ashamed to admit this, Golemagg. Funny, but still, it was our first time clearing MC in one night I think :)
As far as 3d effects and sickness, I can't see how world of warcraft would induce any sort of illness in anybody. Its not a "fast" game with uber-realistic graphics. The graphics aren't really the point. There is a trial on-line, so I would suggest trying it out and seeing how it runs on our machine.

Looking for a new laptop, any one own a tablet?
by thecarpenter ini'm in the market for a new laptop and the convertable tablet has caught my eye.
gateway recently came out with a 14" widescreen laptop/tablet that is a stunner.
anyone have or uses a tablet pc and what do you think of it?

Dell's are generally pretty poor build quality. Unfortunately, tablets are not really ready yet. Its a great idea, but technology has not really caught up with what would be needed from a decent tablet. Things like, lightweight, visible in sunlight, reasonable battery life, good note taking capabilities and a high-density screen seem like pretty minimal requirements to me. I did some dev work on a tablet (for an amex survey). While it was novel and interesting, I can't see it being very useful as a computer I would use regularly.
For taking notes, I would tend toward note paper at this point. But then again, I can type reasonably fast, and I really wanted to take notes, I would get a small nice laptop for doing so. Personally, being a mac fanboy, I would get a MacBook. Nice decent light computer. The video camera is a nice bonus.
On a side note, isn't it bizarre how people don't use laptops for taking assembly notes? (at least, no one in the audience does.. the bros downstairs do though). If I was really serious about taking notes at an assembly, I would absolutely use a laptop to do this effectively. Always bothered me that pulling out a laptop would be viewed as "stumbling" via materialism... so short sighted. Oh well.

by metatron inhow could anyone know objectively if they live in the "last days", if they fail to examine history?

Instead of quoting 2 Pe (which quite frankly, could be made to apply any time, and in fact has) how about some hard facts about why this time is worse than before?

Thirdwitness, is there any scriptural support for the idea that Satan came by a few months earlier to stir up trouble?

Arrowstar, I imagine you need to get more dmg on Onyxia to bring her down. The other day, in an encounter that went badly, we got six deep breaths.
While you were busy getting pwned by Onyxia, we beat Rag (for the third time). Good times! ;)
What server is everyone on? I'm on Thunderlord, 60 NE Druid.
