  Homeopathy popular in Jehovah's Witnesses ?

  is homeopathy ( the treatment of a disease using, in small doses, drugs that produce symtoms like those of the disease so that one's natural immune system can fight off the disease ) popular among active jw's ?

  my son who was raised as a jw has a large ( adult male palm size ) fatty growth on his back.

  his jw mother is treating him with homeopathy, as is a so called doctor.

  Mulan, my stating that homeopathy is quackery does not impugn upon your intelligence in anyway. As I believe there are many perfectly intelligent JWs, I also believe there are many perfectly intelligent people who use homeopathic, chiropractic and naturopathic treatments. Regrettably (well, perhaps not), I've read entirely too much about homeopathy and how it works, and have looked at the studies as to its efficacy. Homeopathy doesn't work, as simple as that.

  Smart people can hold onto bad beliefs. The science of belief and justification is illuminating, but humbling, as all of us, without exception, make mistakes in our thinking, and subsequently, believe in things that aren't true. Seeing as all of us were taken in by a mind-bending cult as some level, I think all of us can have a fair bit of sympathy over this phenomenon.

  The simple answer, zensim, is that stupid ideas that are held onto in the fact of opposing evidence for a long time deserved to be ridiculed. After a certain point, ridicule is all that is left. Vaccination has nothing to do with homeopathy. I can only assume from your response you didn't understand James Randi's explanation.

  Indeed. Homeopathy is pure quackery. The same antidisestablishmentarianism culture of JWs that rejects blood transfusions naturally latches onto things like homeopathy, naturopathy, chiropractic treatments and Noni juice (etc). Homeopathy kills (as people delay seeing a doctor).

  i have been so upset by the lack of respect and value for human life following the events that have taken place over the past few years.

  surely, this is bible prophesy being fulfilled at its highest level.

  the bible says that the end of the world will come when those in power are proclaiming 'peace and security'.

  When James Randi is the villain and Sylvia Browne is the good guy, its little wonder you guys got yourselves involved in a cult. (rolling my eyes at these comments)

  Unless you actually smarten up to these sorts of charlatans, you are leaving yourself open for another magical cult to come and sweep you away (unless of course, thats already happened)

  I need HELP and ADVICE. PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE READ

  6 months ago i was d'fd and i am right now confused as to what i want to do cuse i can put my letter in for reinstatement now but i just dont know if that would be the best desicion for me.

  one side of me says go back to the jw org and do all that i can in the org so that i can make it to the paradise.

  but then one side says just do what u want to do til u die.

  Essentially it comes down to priorities. If you want to be able to hang out with your family, or you want the JW lifestyle, or you want to be with your "friends" again then yes, you should go back to the JWs. (And you really shouldn't be here too) The fact that you're here seems to indicate you want to be talked out of going back. I personally feel if you care about truth and knowledge, then going back to the JW is not a very good choice, and probably some reading (like one of Franz's books) and some cult exit counseling would help greatly.

  I'm not going to say you can't have a fulfilling life as a JW. Just make sure you don't care too badly about being intellectually stimulated, pursuing truth or being allowed to make up your own mind about a great number of things. For some people this is a fine trade-off for their families and the only way of life they know.

  Leolaia, depressingly, I saw a chart in an audio magazine that showed how the average dynamic range of CD's was shrinking. Sadly, people don't want music with dynamic ranges, they just wanna toss it on their stereo and listen. There is a great tune by Belle & Sebastian called "If You Find Yourself Caught In Love" which has a nice piano intro before it breaks into the tune. Greatly startling if you haven't heard it before. We need more startling music. (James Chance and the Contortions anyone?)

  The Apple software is fatally flawed. First, it takes control over every song on the comp, redudes tham to 128 kbps (terrible quality) no matter where they came from and forces an automatic full synch every time you dock the IPOD. Any time the IPOD file, library, and IPOD itself are not "synched", all the music is erased from the IPOD. Connect your friend's by mistake to your comp? You're screwed.

  You obviously have no idea how iTunes works. First, when iTunes loads your music, it either copies it to its own structure, or it leaves it alone. (This is a setting.) iTunes does not alter any MP3's or AAC files you choose to use, however, it does transcode WMV (windows media files) into an open format such as aac or mp3. (You can choose which, its in the settings.) Second, if you plugged in your ipod to another friends computer, and your ipod was set to auto-sync, it would give you a WARNING, asking you what you want to do. Wipe out your iPod or leave it as is. If you wanted to copy a little bit of music off their computer, you would have to put your iPod into manual sync mode, which lets you copy over whatever you need.

  Sounds to me like you need two things. You need to read the WORDS ON THE COMPUTER SCREEN. Also, a book like the iTunes: Missing Manual would do you some good. iTunes is a pretty nice MP3 player and really a wonderful mp3 organizer. Even if I wasn't using an iPod I would definitely be using iTunes to simply organize all of my music & podcasts.
