My list is in the 60's, hippies conquered, then the 70's was disillusionment, the 80's was american capitalists and i think kurt cobain singlehandedly conquered the 90's. that was a very exciting decade.

Do you think that JW's leaders are going to announce a new date in 2006?
by booker-t ini was reading a thread here the other and it mentioned that the assembly for 2006 will be "delivance at hand".
is this going to be like 1974 when every jw's thought the end was going to come in 1975?
i don't think jw's leaders would be that stupid again and build jw's for another date-setting letdown.

Did you ever go out in Field Service on Thanksgiving or Christmas morning

i never had a problem with going door to door except for the holidays.. one, i felt like we were intruding on our neighbors who set aside time be with their loved ones.. two, it just made me feel more different and jealous that i was not celebrating the holidays with my family.. any thoughts?

I remember once I had to go to the hall to do some mag sorting on Christmas day. There were a bunch doing phone work downstairs and I went to say hello.
I was just in "plain clothes" but they convinced me to participate, so I did (2 pioneer elders + 1 pioneer elder wife)
Well, we get this really angry family, and the pioneer wife terminates the call. Lo and behold, they call back, and they GAVE IT TO ME! AGG!
So eventually I passed it over to one of the elders, and they kept goign on about Jesus being our leader in response to "Who is your manager? I want to talk to your supervisor!". But the angry family honestly thought we were selling some videos I think.
I would never do it again... my dad goes out every Christmas. He must enjoy the angry people.

Yeah, I haven't heard THAT one before.... quite odd
What got me was, "Some people read newspapers every day - such a person could poison himslef spiritually. We need to make time for spiritual feeding". Just keeping ignorant of everyday events except through the poop coloured glasses of "Watching the World".

"Knowledge" studies - still in use?

can anyone confirm that the knowledge studies are still in use, and haven't had any recent major revisions (last couple of years).. i've written some analysis of these studies and wanted to make sure the source, knowedge that leads to everlasting life, is current.. .

I think its entirely likely that this new book will replace the Knowledge book itself as the primary bible study aid. Someone review the first few chapters (from a catholic perspective)

However, the same once who lived through the fiasco of 1925 were around for the fiasco of 1975. I just question if they really learn from this sort of event. I wonder how cynical the leadership is to, in terms of knowingly using it as a ploy to boost sagging numbers (albeit artificially)
