  don't know if anybody noticed yet, but i just realised that on january 1st our resident scholar finally graduated as (jedi) master on jwd.... 1000 posts, how many hundreds of "70 years of exile and desolation," "wiley apostates," "brilliant nwt" and "celebrated wt scholars"?.

  let's make it happen.

  using the wts's dates in the january 1.1965 page 29 : nabonidus= 17 years.

  add 17 to 539=556, neriglissar==4 years, add 4 to 556=560, evil-marduk=2 years, add 2 to560=562, nebuchadnezzar=43 years, add 43 to 562 =605.

  the bible at 2 kings 25: 8 and 9 says "in the 19th year of king nebuchadnezzar the servant of the king came to jerusallem and burned the house of jehovah.

  I have read the flawed attempts to try to salvage the October date (and have referred to them in previous posts, but you probably ignored what I said), and they are quite weak. "Obstinacy" is not a word.

  Really? I haven't read any. Last time I checked, officially, the WT did not link WW1 and 1914 together per se. What has the society written about this one? I'm kinda curious.

  i have had a quick look and found no references to this, so - here goes..as in the mag we picked up on sunday.. worldwide % increase over 2004 = 1.3%.

  memorial partakers 8524 (compared to 8570 in 2004).

  most european and nth american lands show pretty static figs - britain 1% increase, canada 0%, germany 0%, france 1%, usa 0%... but spare a thought for the inhabitants of zambia where 1 person in 90 is a reporting witness, must be hell going down to the local market!

  I'm confused. As far as I know, nothing interesting happened in October 1914.

  Russell himself didn't believe in the interpretation you agree with.

  Also, what was so special about 1914 anyways? Has there been an increase in anything (war, famine, crime, disease)?

  sorry how long this is but i found the meeting very exciting.

  the short version is i said directly that i do not believe in the wts, feel being d/f is unfair on my jw family so asked them to just leave me alone.

  it didn't work.

  mark tjernell, author of the story "day one", and owner of his own business, died from electrocution in pierce county, washington, on february 15, 2002. .

  tyernell's theocratic fiction "day one", at one time widely distributed on the internet, dealt with one person's experiences during the first few days after armageddon.

  Both stories contain elements of gloating. Neither story mentions Jesus (I shouldn't say that, the second story does briefly mention him)

  The Good News and Bad News (Brace yourselves; cause it is bad)

  the good news: i just saved a bunch more money on my car insurance by switiching to progressive!

  (though i do miss the free talking duck aflac would send me once a year)

  the bad news: it has just been announced at the kingdom hall today that as of now the watchtower is being translated into 152 languages instead of what used to be 151.

  Has anyone suggested Esperanto yet? Cuz ... THAT would be cool

  Interestingly, in the old Publications Index for order literature (I think it was done away with) there WAS a language code for Esperanto. Always wanted to try ordering something.

  BTW, weren't those nutty language codes? No ISO standardization there, i mean .... german is X? I'm assuming that was about smuggling literature, and was merely a carryover from those days .. but still nutty
