Has anyone heard this talk before? Its ... well, pretty nutty. Misrepresents all sorts of things, but a great speaker! Wish we had had more of him when I was a JW. Would have been more fun to listen to. What do you think of this talk?

The Gentiles Times Reconsidered--Again but this Time By Using the Bible
by thirdwitness inthink about this: if seven times mean only 7 years then daniel could have simply said 7 years.
why does daniel specifically use the word 'times' rather than years?
as we have already shown daniel used the word for 7 times instead of 7 years.

The irritating slant to almost everything negative I have seen on Witnesses
by free2beme inwhen i left the witnesses, a person from work gave me a video about the witnesses that his church uses.
i thought it would be interesting, so i set down and watched it.
what i found was another example of one church taking about another, to then counter with points that support their way of thinking.

Flash: you wrote, "1914 and their biblical formula to determine it made and still makes sense to me, and as I mentioned earlier, I clearly see empirical evidence to support it."
How do you get around the whole October 1914 thing vs. World War 1 starting in July? Or do you think this is much of a problem?
thirdwitness's reply was that Satan knowing he was going to be cast out, came down to earth before hand to cause trouble. He didn't provide any biblical or ever watchtower support for that statement, so its probably just his or her own private speculation.
BTW, empirical evidence? What evidence did you have in mind?

Did you hunt your fellow brothers down.............???
by vitty injeff started a thread today which got me thinking.
many ppl here say they were hunted down by the elders, with the intent of having them dfd.
now if you are a ex elder, did you ever do that??.

I did it to my brother (not as an elder, but just as an over-righteous pub). His name was Moxy on here. I wrote a scrapper to download all his posts, and I sent them to my dad. My dad didn't seem to really care about what he was posting on here, instead, he said something about "showing doubts to those who are weak". He faded away, and I DA'ed. My dad still talks to him, and I haven't spoken with my dad for over a year.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this whole conversation kind of absurd? Doesn't the Watchtower teach that Jesus taught in Aremic and this was translated to Greek by Matthew? So isn't word choice pretty much irrelevant?
Besides which I had always thought that Erchomai and Parousia were interchangable? An example of this is in 1 Co 16:12 and 1 Co 16:!7.
On a side note, isn't the NWT version of 1 Thes 2:19 kind of bizarre? There the word parousia occurs twice in the vs, but NWT only uses it once. Maybe it was altered to get around some awkwardness.

AuldSoul, I'm still waiting for thirdwitness' scriptural support for Satan pre-emptive time o' trouble on earth. Evidently, Satan KNOWING he was going to be kicked out, came down and stirred up trouble. (WW1) I've never seen any statement in the watchtower or bible to support this, so it sounds to me like he is harboring private ideas.

What is the JW View of Clowning :o)??
by Seeker4 in(i threw this into the "jw view of cloning" thread yesterday, and thought maybe a few would like to have some fun with it so i gave it its own thread.
there was this comment in a letter to the body of elders about clowning in march 2003:
"as to the matter of clowning, we can see from phil.
