Conkers !

liam has been a bit disappointed this week 'cause conkers are all the rage at school and he hasn't had any (apart from a couple his friend gave him).

dylan wanted some as well (but he just likes to 'want' what liam does).

so, i promised them that tonight i'd take both off them to get some.. on a bit of an isolated stretch of road on the way to work, i'd noticed a couple of chestnut trees that were well away from housing estates so hadn't been 'hacked to bits' by local kids.

The English Aversion To Root Beer.

when we were kids, our mothers would treat our cuts and grazes with an antiseptic cream called germoline.

it's still widely used today.. to mask the antiseptic smell, thereby making the product more acceptable to kids, the manufacturers would mix in sassafras to the finished product.

sassafras has a very distinctive smell.. root beer also contains sassafras, which duly imparts it's distinctive aroma to the drinker.. so, to your average brit anyway, drinking root beer is akin to swallowing antiseptic cream, because it smells just the same!.

Root Beer, the soft-drink, or pop.... is just plain nasty ! Yes it does smell and tastes like some pharmaceutical product... I didn't know about the sassafras in it.

Awful stuff, like most american soft drinks, but root-beer is the worst.

Has any Witness prophesies ever came true ?

surely some of the prophesies came true, my old mom tells me that they all have bless her heart she is 84 and its all she knows.

but i guess if you line up all of them the ones that did not far out number the ones that did.

what do you say to someone who says god directed the witness's in bible prophesies?

Your Favourite Radio Station

geez, where do i start?

living here in the greater toronto area, there are many fm stations that i really dig, and 1 or 2 am that are worthy of a listen.

the only times I can listen to the radio is when I am driving, and I do a lot of driving. 3 weeks ago, I had to have the car battery changed, and since then, the radio does not work anymore. I have a VW Jetta which has one of these (stooooopid) anti-theft device. I've tried countless times to re-enter the code, and I know I've done everything right, but still, the radio won't work... I've asked different car repair shops and noone knows what to do... I would have to find a VW dealer, and the closest one is 40 miles away...I hate driving without the radio... Anyone can help ?
