  knorr was selling air that made people feel good, even though they couldnt explain exactly why it made them feel good.. here we have some comments about a watchman classtm whose main sin is not wanting to sell watchtower books.

  washington (cnn) -- president bush's daily intelligence briefing in the weeks leading up to the september 11 terror attacks included a warning of the possibility that osama bin laden's al qaeda network would attempt to hijack a u.s.-based airliner, senior administration officials said wednesday.

  but, the officials said, there was no speculation about the use of an airplane itself as a bomb or a weapon, and no specific, credible information about the possibility of a hijacking of any sort.

  hijackers took over the controls of four planes on september 11, 2001. two of those planes plowed into new york's world trade center, another jetliner nose dived into the pentagon and the fourth aircraft crashed into pennsylvania woodlands after passengers tried in vain to overcome the terrorists.

  A commercial jet hitting a building anywhere in the U.S. is pretty serious...if that building is part of the WTC...you see why this doesn't compute?

  It seems that he just heard it, nodded, and continued what he was doing. At least he would take 5 minutes to get a briefing, don't you think?

  But again I'd have to see a video or official transcipt, because I don't recall where I read this.

  Apparently, when the secret service agent or one of his travelling associates whispered in his ear that the WTC had been hit (plane #1)...he nodded and went back to reading the class a story!

  I'd like to see a video clip of that.

  Is it natural to be with one person for a lifetime

  i've always wondered if there really is such thing as a paradise and a hope for eternal life would we be limited to interacting with only one person?

  the point could be argued from several perspectives.

  several scriptures would suggest that a man and woman once joined in marriage are to be tied only to each other indefinitely.

  Someone (ME) will address the issue of spreading disease:

  Simply put, viruses and bacteria which cause disease also contribute to that terrible thing we like to call...evolution.

  It is simply a social convention to think of STDs as 'dirtier' than other forms of illnesses. This is not a logical conclusion, but an emotional one.

  So how are are we seeing evolution in action?

  (example 1) - The spread of malaria in Africa and Asia has led to genetic resistance. From this resistance also comes the prevalence of the sickle cell anemia (and another not so fatal anemia that I can't recall right now) But anyhow, the disease has caused a major shift in gene frequencies. (And there is only one gene involved in each case here. Very interesting.)

  (example 2) - So what about the disease vectors themselves? They have a right to live don't they? Well, consider the current evolution of many different antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria.

  In summary, while the different forms of life (animal vs. bacteria or virus) seem to be competing, there is actually some amount of symbiosis in the entire system.

  Individuals die of disease, yes.

  But without change, species die.

  So it's genetically favorable (I've added another reason besides simply mixing the gene pool) for humans or animals to 'indulge in their own selfish desires'; even in moderation, such behavior will aid in the long-term viablity of the species.

  Did Satan prove God wrong? a possible bibical flaw

  most people are familiar with the account of job where satan makes the claim that the only reason humans serve god is because of selfish reasons.

  god allowed satan to test this theory on job, so job was beset by numerous trials but he refused to give up on god or blame him in anyway.. it would appear that satan was proved wrong in this particular bible account but was he really?

  would the majority of mankind follow jobs example if they were faced with similar trials?

  Okay, I have two jewels of insight...
  ...one about David's sin and one about Job and his wife.

  In both cases, people are getting stuck on the common inferences. If you toss away the inferred meanings, the following things pop out at you:

  (1) The child of David and Bathsheeba died. This, however, would not have been uncommon in their time. Remember, they lived, oh, almost 3000 years ago. The survival rate for infants was probably 50%, I am guessing. But we know it was low.

  So did God kill the baby or did David's conscience start to bother him when the child died?

  Not every event, even the calamitous, is a sign from God.

  (2) This one is interesting....the bible doesn't say that Job's wife ridiculed him! Read the passage carefully.

  She questions him about his integrity. But it is unfair to say that she did this out of anger or a lack or compassion.

  No, I offer that she actually said this out of true compassion. More like 'Job, you are suffering...what use is it to keep praising God? If you curse him perhaps he will end your misery.'

  Fulfilled Prophecy Proves Nothing

  i remember that i was just a young pioneer witness when i first met peter stairs.

  i had knocked on his door one sunday morning whilst accompanied by a sister, and peter had come to the door looking like he had enjoyed a very heavy night.. he lived in a prefab at lee-on-solent and as he stood at the door glaring balefully at us, reeking of stale beer, body odour and cigarettes, i prepared myself to receive a verbal onslaught of weary abuse.. however, he just stood to one side and demanded that we enter his home.

  cautiously, we did so, and he beckoned us to sit with him at a battered old table with his wife and children.

  Someone should post the article in the Awake or WT which basically says the same thing. I can't remember exactly when but it was within 2 years ago.

  The purpose was to discredit Jewish scholars who used the bible to retroactively "prophesy" many events, like the assasination of JFK.

  Now, should the WT be teaching people critical thinking and reasoning skills?
