it seems semantic tom-foolery to declare a war on terrorism, and then to say that prisoners of the war are not prisoners of war.. it also seems very suspect keeping them of proper usa soil, as where they are they are out of sight, mind, or appeal by civil-rights factions.. do not get me wrong.. i am not saying, "ah, poor ickle terrorists".. but in a war against terror, surely taking each and every opportunity to distance yourself from your enemies is the wisest and best course of action?.

Do you claim to know how many of the prisoners were at all responsible for the attacks on 9-11? I'd venture to say that less than 1% of the prisoners were remotely responsible. Most are poor peasants fighting for what they believe represents their honour and freedom.
If you don't care about the peasants in Afghanistan, why the hell should they care about you?
People are implying over and over here that its alright to label any Afghani as a 'terrorist'. That is an emotional 'codeword'! It hides the truth.

I am sorry to hear about that. It must have been a painful period in your life. Glad that you are still around to live and breathe!
I understand what you are saying about metaphor. I don't want to 'take away God's right to use metaphor' but simply show how other belief systms have similar poweful metaphoric value. There is no need to criminalize people who worship a different God in a different way.
It will always be up for debate which ideology is superior.
But does it make your quality of life right now better than theirs? And even if it does, who is really counting? What good is the knowledge that you are happier than someone else? If anything, it prevents you from relaxing and enjoying your life.
Perhaps you have found a place where 'the air is sweet'. Enjoy it!
