i dont believe it at all.
in fact, you could see that everything they do is because there is some sort of record keeping behind it, i.e.

Funny how I never saw it as a control mechanism when I was in, I saw it as a perfectly legitimate way of recording the 'growth'. And people love stats and the Yearbook fed us the stats, and that masked the hidden agenda quite well.
It was a way of breaking the tedium looking at all the freaky results like a 20% increase because there were now 6 reporters in Bangadesh instead of 5. I used to imagine those 6 poor people and what if they didnt like each other? Or that place where there was 1 reporter for every 240 population. I thought how truly AWFUL to have to get time in every month off the back of the same 240 people over and over again. They probably came in just to stop being pestered.

If there are shareholders of an incorporated company surely they have to file their accounts somewhere? In the UK all companies have to file company accounts with Companies House www.companieshouse.gov.uk and anyone can go online and get a copy of the accounts, which gives a breakdown of what is done with all the money (I think you may have to pay for the download of accounts - I used to work for accountacy firm so we were registered to download any accounts we wanted).
But then if they are registered as a charity, surely there is some other body they have to be regulated by and report to?

we need to examine the earliest known descriptions of the kind of crucifixion adopted by the romans and the specific terms they used to refer to it.
apparently the society believes that crux still meant "stake" in the second century a.d., when tacitus composed his annals.

Because the JWs lay a lot of importance on the fact that the cross is evil. My mum had a bible study who was supposedly being attacked by demons, and she searched her house to see what was inviting them in. She found a small silver crucifix in the bottom of a wardrobe, threw it out, and hey presto, problem solved. I was convinced for years that crosses were demonised. Of course if I had known the real truth, I would have been spared this terrifying thought.
Even now part of me is scared by crosses, illogical I know now, in the face of all your hard work and research.

The time thing is used as a reward instrument so, no, if there was no way of being recognised as having done the time, what would be the point of doing it. E.G. if you did pioneer hours you got the kudos of being a pioneer, if you did enough hours a month you were deemed good enough to reach out for promotion up the ranks.
If a person was told they coundnt pioneer, for instance because they had a coat that buttoned up the mans way instead of the womans, but were told they could still put poineer hours in, do you think they would put all that work in for no formal kudos? No I didnt!!
If they changed the reporting system so that no-one at all got to know what time you had done, it was just between you and jehoba, then there would be no way to frig the system. If you did bugger all you would have done bugger all for jehoba, so however much you told yourself no-one knew you had done B.A. the point would be that jehoba knew. Guess they just dont trust the bro's enuf.

Thats pretty clever isnt it. I would have swallowed all that at one time as being logical and irrefutable. I can see now how twisted it is to deny that the bible holds more importance as a reference book that the Witchtower.

no one to talk to
by jeeves ini guess this is my introductory post.. like many of you, i was raised as a witness.. like many of you, i'm no longer associated with them.. it still hangs over me like a plague.
it's really annoying.
i haven't been to a meeting in 4 years, i'm "out of the closet" - my parents know i'm no longer interested, my oldest brother won't talk to me... etc.

Ive only been here a week myself, but I have found people who truly understand me for the first time. Theres nothing like speaking to people who have been through some of what you have been through - you dont have to explain any new words or concepts to them, they have already lived and breathed the same types of experiences you have.
