If someone holds a strong opinion about something, e.g. hanging Bush, the first resort is not to make a nasty personal comment. It is to refute the argument with a different strong opinion about the ISSUE, not the person you are argueing with.
I used to be very much against capital punishment.
Now I think hanging is way too humane for him. I really do. Theres nothing that could even begin to balance the evil he has done. Even dunking him in one of his own acid vats, subjecting him to his own chemical attacks, sticking him in his own torture chamber Abu Ghareb, (which we have now shamefully taken over with enthusiasm) would be too good for him.
I cant think of a punishment that would befit the crime. I only wish I believed in hell. For once.
And nothing will change in Iraq. The whole place is a mess. I pity the poor people who have to live there.

or more to the point, what can you do with your cousin who is in love with a heroin addict, lives with him, has a child to him, is regularly beaten by him to the point that she went into a womens refuge last year, and supports him with all her income because she is the breadwinner.. sigh.. i just got in touch with my cousins again after several years, and i find out my beautiful cousin has been brutalised by this fuckwit for years.
but until she is ready to see hes ruining her life nobody can do anything to help her.. the whole family has given up on saying anything because she always goes back to him.
she loves him.
She has no history of abuse. Her parent were JW;s until she was 14, then my aunty became an alcoholic and the marriage ended and my cousin went right off the rails. She used to go missing for days at a time aged 14, she was clearly unhappy, and yes, id say serious esteem issues. But she was such a lovely little girl, honest, bright, kind, happy.
Her childhood was screwed over, and now shes screwed up the rest of her life.
I said to my other cousin, could she not get some really pure heroin and make sure he had an overdose, but she said "she loves him, she wouldnt do it".
Sad. I could do it as soon as look at him. He stole £50 I sent to her when she had her baby.

i spent last saturday about 10 miles out of grants pass bring some supplies to a friend who was in the search and rescue for james kim, and talking with people who were looking for him.
being a long time resident of oregon, i can tell you exactly where he was, as i have been down that road many many times.
it is a remote location, at best, and locals mainly use it for hunting a fishing access, or maybe a chance to go motorcycle riding through the mountains.

I was driving home last night, in the dark and the rain and my usual road home was closed. I followed the diversion sign and it took me into a wood - no lights, no tarmac, no other cars on the road.
Do you know how long it took me to back up and get onto a road I felt safe on? 9 days? 3 hours? 40 minutes?
NO. About 30 seconds cos I was shitting myself, and I thought if I break down here im not f00king walking even 10 minutes through a wood in the rain and the pitch black.

People would die less if they werent so stupid or careless as to their own safety.
We used to hav e a programme on telly here called "999". In my opinion it should have been called "Stupid people nearly die because they think nature is a Disney park"
It basically had stories of rescues of people who had got themselves into ridiculous positions and couldnt see how they had contributred to the accident. Every story started along the lines of "It was a lovely day, and me and my family were merely walking along the cliff edge / potholing / driving up a mountain / absailing with the dog WHEN SUDDENLY we got blown off the cliff by a freak wind / we slipped on a banana skin that some careless person had thrown away and fell into a huge underground river / the ropes on our absail got snagged on a glass bottle someone had dropped and we plummeted 1000 feet.
The rest of the programme was about how they defied death. They never ever said "Im a stupid asshole who let my precious 4 kids play right at the cliff edge when it was nearly dark, and when one of them goofed around and fell off the edge it was totally my fault".
