How do you combat laziness?
by AlmostAtheist ini didn't say "unmotivated" or "lacking direction" or any of the other euphemisms i typically apply to it.
i said what i meant, and i do mean it.. but i can't imagine it has to be this way.
surely there's something i can do to combat it.

MY SON WAS ATTACKED!
by Dansk inyesterday afternoon my older son, karl, who is studying musical production at brighton university, came round to see his family.
he had just been to see his pregnant girlfriend, who is staying with her mum and dad for a week.. karl is a wonderful boy; the type of son any parent would be proud of.
he is loving, considerate, respectful and has never once caused any trouble or been in any.

Met with the C.O., and need help with 1975
by OnTheWayOut inhere is a quick summary, in august i turned in an elder resignation letter stating that i could not teach doctrine from the governing body because i did not "know" them at all, and i had doubts.
when asked by the elders, i said the doubts spring from this generation and 1975. the elders took no action, waiting for mother to tell them what to do.
would want to talk to me on his visit.. this week, our c.o.

That is so unbelievably RUDE that the CO had no exclusive time put aside for you. He should have at the very least had a sheperding visit for you where you were able to discuss your concerns unrushed and in private.
What a lazy ass, to not even give you 5 minutes private time. He probably didnt have the courage to think about your misgivings.

What are your reasons for posting here?
by sonnyboy ini'm curious as to what drives some people to post at certain boards.. for me, i first came here over a year ago thinking this was a pro-jw site, ready to jump on the dubs.
lol.
little did i know.... i posted here exclusively for a while, but then found that the repetitive topics became tedious.

I have tried posting on three other forums over the years, none of them anything to do with religion, just particular things I am involved or interested in, like TES, the Teachers forum.
I have found with every other forum I have tried there are several people who can be very rude, hostile or just not welcoming. I have been put off all the other forums because I have never felt welcome, and have in some cases received quite hostile replies to really innocent discussions.
This is the only forum where I have found really friendly people, also really intelligent and funny people. Its the only forum where I have met some people who I now consider to be real friends.
So just like you would never stop talking to a friend, I feel I cant just stop posting here as it would be like ignoring my friends.
Also its the only place where I feel like people really understand the experiences of the first 30 years of my life. Even my current partner cant really know what it was like to live under the regime of that religion, although he does his best.
So I come here just to chat really, with people I like who understand me. If these people lived closer to me we'd probably be round each others houses all the time chewing the fat and not chatting online.

Does it ever seem odd to others, that every religion has a symbol?
No, but it does seem very odd to me that lots of religions have a hat. Jews - skull cap / bowler hat Moslem - skull cap / hajib Catholic - tall pointy thing for bishops and pope JW's - tea towel Ahmish - straw boaters What is it with god and headgear?? Is he really that small minded that he will only save the gang wearing the correct thing on their heads?

Sigh, all these years I thought I was rebelling, and i wasnt even committing a major league sin.
Im amazed at the numerous categories and variations of sexual sin. Cant they just have every possible thing called either Naughty, or Very Naughty?
