Should People Be Disfellowshipped?
by Frenchy ina reply i made on another thread prompted me to post this.
i was going to do so on the other thread but that was really not the topic and i didn't want to corrupt it by flying off on another tangent.. i have no problems with disfellowshipping from an organization such as jehovah's witnesses.
i don't think a person should be allowed to remain within an organization while practicing things that are condemned by that org., things which they, themselves profess not to believe in.. my objection is to the shunning.

What of the countless numbers who had their fair share of 'mental impairments' as children but were not allowed to seek professional assistance from trained bodies on the outside of the organisation? How are the elders qualified to make decisions based upon the fitness of someone elses mind when in fact they have virtually no knowledge whatsoever of the psychological processes that might have caused certain behaviour patterns in them as individuals? On what sound basis can they judge?
The DF fine, I'm glad I'm out of it, the shunning is tearing me apart still. Its so needless and serves no useful purpose, as someone else said, when they change their attitudes and direction accordingly on many factors, then I'll maybe not work on the issues so much.
Its not just being on this side of the fence, df'd out of the JW's but concern for those on the inside who are often being held there spiritually against their will, the use of the threat of disfellowshipping holding many in fearful hostage via emotional blackmailing. This I think is terrible and needs to be stopped quickly.

Forgive the Governing Body
by edward gentry ini dont hate the governing body, nor the president.. not even rutherford.. after reading all that old dub material i came to believe all those old croakers running the org are just pathetic, brainwashed old men, trapped in their 60 years of organizational experience.. i feel sorry for the old fossils.. imagine all the life experience theyve missed out on.. imagine the disaapointment when they finally go up the tunnel of light into death and find out theyve been slaves to an entity that eats souls.. they just dont know any better.. i pity them.
not hate them.. compassionate and forgiving aint i?.

Would I though given the chance sabotage their distribution networks if I had the skill or expertise, i.e. disable their printing works or transports systems? I cannot say I would not be strongly tempted. But I couldn't harm anyone.

Yes agree. Anger will only chew me up and spit me out in the end. The old fossils were just somewhat misguided, they're still human, no different from anyone else. Would I put my own life at risk to save one of them if required? Yes, the same as I would for anyone else.

I have to be nagged at often to eat, I much prefer often to go without. Many times 3 days or so might pass before i notice that i'm hungry that much, I just try to get by on a minimum, is this common and something peculiar to jw related individuals?
