i never did, although i did tell my former bible student/tennis partner that the bible does not condemn celebrating birthdays or recommend celebrating anniverseries.

he told his jw brother who told his elders who told my po.

when the po asked me about the conversation, i told him he asked me some questions and i truthfully answered., i said, "nothing i said was wrong or incorrect".

honestly, do you think that jw's really like going to 3 or 4 day assemblies, especially when it's out of town, far away, and you have to take a motel room, and all the gas money and food money it takes, as well as having to sit down all day listening to endless talks...and that for 3 or 4 days in a row.. and often, they have to take a day off from work, to attend the friday meeting, so no pay for that day.. i think that the jw's are glad when it's finally over, not before.. .

Forget assemblies, these are few times a year. Meeting are where your attention is completely ruined that you can't ever again concentrate on any sort of lecture. Possibly, reason why many dubs don't even think about furthering their education.

I just don't get it, why is WTBS so much against beards???!!!??? Anyone?
Last article I remember reading about is was from 1960's or 70's I don't remember. Anyway, the gist of the argument against was in order to differentiate dubs from hippies of that time. I mean give me a break. Hippies are now in their 50 and 60's. Society (meaning normal human society, not borg) has changed so much from back then that such an argument in not only ridiculous but above all else insulting.

What is wrong with someone wearing nicely trimmed and kept beard? Why is it that they can tolerate more, say, elder’s son coming with such a spiky hair that gel is almost dripping down his shoulders but can’t stand a mature male gentleman with a beard? What is even more ridiculous is that their literature is full of bearded people. Oh well these were from ancient times, weren’t they? If god has created beard why is it so wrong wearing it?!? Apparently, he didn’t intend it for women so very few have any natural facial hair. (there are always few exceptions of course)

I’d wish to see some modern explanation from the WTBS explaining why it is that they still like to keep this dinosaur rule in place.

Catholicism

i went to a catholic church this weekend with my boyfriend.

he was raised catholic and was thinking about going back to church, but after the service decided that his belief system was now too different for him to attend services anymore.

as for myself, it stirred an unexpected reaction in me.

why go anywhere? Every church just what's to beat up numbers either in bank or in membership? Usually both. Why would you want to be a cog in someone's religious machine? I'd rather spend time in serious research and study to see where the truth can be found. They are all borgs in one sense or another. Besides if you believe in god you can always pray at home. That’s my view anyway.

UFOs - secret military projects from planet EARTH?!?!

just finished watching this discovery program, that makes convincing case that ufo are nothing but very advanced military projects that have been going on for years.

in fact, it all started in nazi germany, and the company that was commissioned to produce them was none other than skoda , car company from czechoslovakia.

Agree, but your point is more philosophical than anything. Following that reasoning you'd never take anyone seriously. Reason why I tend to trust more things I hear at Discovery or National Geographic than say 20/20 is because producers take great care not to air bullshit - reason why is because their survivability as serious scientific broadcaster depends on it. While 20/20 can air any bullshit and get away with it for simple reason - because its audience is not at much higher level than journalist covering the story. It is all dependants on who your audience is and whom you are trying to impress.

Anyway, I don’t want to go any further, see the program first then we’ll talk about it.

Why do active witnesses frequent the site?

i'm somewhat currious why active witnesses appear to frequent the site, and if the information on this site causes any to "fade away" or "dis-associate"?.

personally if i have known 18 years ago what i know now i would have been a lot more active in trying to convince all i cared about to leave, instead of fading away [gone with a bang so to speak].

it's funny how when you are in it you can't see it for what it is.
