That is truly pathetic.

It seems like you people like putting words in peoples mouths here.
In all fairness, did I say what you just said? You are a complete hypocrite, since that is exactly what you did on the earthquake thread.

Chevelle...
Your ignorance and prejudice are the sort of thing that really irritates me. Luckily I live in a country where I have the freedom to challenge that sort of nonsense.
It is complete stupid to suggest that being homosexual makes you a paedophile. what are you basing this idea upon? Other than your own blind prejudice of course.

So that's it
by ballistic inso that's it... you decided to tell your lover about all this.
was it a good move?.
why, is it really that important anyway?.

As in..... "Guess what, lover, I've got some baggage. I was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, a high-control religious group for XX years, and it left scars that even I have trouble explaining. Believe me, there's a lot more to them than a bunch of clean-cut nerds strolling from door to door with magazines. I might act weird if you use trigger words like "loyal" or "truth". I still think Christmas and Catholic crosses are from Satan. Mind?"
That rings a scary number of bells! lol

The Dangers and Morality of Science
by Big Dog inwith all the discussion here about the dangers of religion, its morality issues, and so on i thought it would be interesting to have a discussion (especially given the large population of science oriented folks on this board) where we discuss the same issues with respect to science.
now this is not meant to be some i want to go back to the dark ages thread, but more so that recognition that there are moral, ethical, and hell survival issues with science that need to be addressed.. michael crichton as most know is both a famous author and an extremely bright individual who attended harvard medical school, in his novel jurrassic park he raised some issues with science and its dangers: .
"jurassic park was intended to warn the general public concerning the inherent dangers of biotechnology first of all, but also science in general.

Would love some input if you feel like it.
by pc inmy husband and i are involved with a group of people and we have what we refer to as a "small group".
we get together have wine and cheese and read the bible or discuss things that we might need help with.
it is a very cool group of people no over the top christians.

No, thats claiming your allowance, but as it happens anyone who gets married in order to claim a couples allowance is immoral in my book.

I think integrity is not limited to christians, but is a natural human characteristic resulting from our evolving as a social animal. I.e there is more to be gained through cooperation than conflict for the majority of the group. I shall stop here before I get any further off-topic.

creationism in the us of a
by googlemagoogle injust read in the newspaper that some 54% of americans favor creationism and diss darwin.
.
i know, never trust a stat you haven't faked yourself, but... is creationism (especially yec) really that wide spread in the us?

Assuming there is a creator, who are we to tell him what’s right and what’s wrong?
If that is the case why did god give you a brain capable of asking the question? More importantly why did he give you a brain capable of realising that there isn't an answer that would be satisfactory to your own sense of right or wrong?

What the taxes are used for is utterly beside the point in a democratic country. I would agree that it would be foolish to pay more tax than you should but there is a big difference between claiming all your allowances and taking advantage of tax loopholes. If you (not you personally) are claiming to stick to christian moral principles then do so, if you aren't prepared to live by those standards then don't make the claim.
As the pub landlord might say "come on, piss or get off the pot"

An interesting question might be if your group thinks integrity is limited to christians. Its funny how many people think that it is.
Sherry
hence my tongue in cheek,
Hey what do I know though; I'm not a christian
Integrity and a strong sense of morality as well as respect for others is what it's all about.
