Yesterday, it was in the low 90's here in Tennessee. It's hot but it doesn't bother me much when I am outside. I work in a factory that has 2 kilns that heat up to about 1400 degrees celcius. I forgot how to convert temps, after I got hired on since we never have to use that information. It was 106 degrees at work when I left on Monday, and 101 yesterday. It's always a relief to step outside that door. I don't remember it feeling like this last summer, it was hot, but not this unbearable. Oh yeah, last summer I wasn't pregnant, which some of you may not know, you get these hot flashes that last, uhm, 24/7. I am on a restricted schedule and I drink plenty of water at work. Yesterday was the first time that I got too hot and had to go sit down for a minute in the air conditioning. I have a pretty good attitude about work, so don't think I am whining about it. The non-pregnant people b!tch more than I do about it.

I don't scream it from rooftops, but if someone asks I'll tell them. Most people don't find it a big deal.

by unbeliever inmom and i went to have a bite to eat at one of her favorite restaurants which is in a casino.
lo and behold as we were leaving in walks 5 of her dub friends who were going to eat at the same place.
she was talking and talking and i got tired of standing there being ignored so i walked away and started playing the slots which was well in their eye site.

A sister I grew up with was DF'd because she had bought lottery tickets and cigerettes for her "worldly" boss when she went to a neighboring state. He had gave her the money to buy them with. Tennessee has high taxes on cig's, that's why he wanted some when she had went up there. At that time, Tennessee didn't have a lottery. This was only about 5 or 6 years ago.

When Jehovah's Witnesses do bad - Are criticisms of JW's valid? Part I
by rambaldi inwhen we see news reports of jehovahs witnesses who are reported to have done something bad, what do we think?
sometimes people ridicule us for that.
obey and become his special property, disobey and be rejected.

Just a thought that occurred to me while reading this thread. Wonder if he/she is counting this as part of their "time?" And if every response they make back is a return visit?
As far as my opinion on the topic, when JDubs do bad, then yes it will reflect on the organization because according their doctrine and their training, they, simply put, should have known better.

What does your name MEAN?
by RichieRich inwe all are identified by our names here on jwd.
some use their real names, and others pick a moniker that is their nickname or perhaps a few words from a song they like.. why did you pick your name?.

My name on here is just an sn I have had for years on different things on the 'net. I am from Tennessee. I am/was (lol) a very sweet and kind person, so that's the angel. I was born in 1973.
I ran my real name through on the behind the name website. My first name, Jessica, means "Yahweh beholds." My middle name is Nicole which is a deritative of Nicholas, so it said, which means "victory for the people." So together it was "Yahweh beholds victory for the people." I thought that was kinda cool.

I've been called for jury service 3 times. I have never sat in on a case, though. My county calls people for jury service twice a year, and you serve for 6 months. They give you a list of dates to call the night before to see if your panel is being called in. I only had to go once. Got a check for 22 bucks for going in for 20 minutes to hear that the case had been thrown out.

What was your breaking point?
by soundbox_guy inokay, i'm new as you all probably know, so my question may have been discussed several times in the past.
i'm just curious as to when some of you came to the conclusion that enough was enough and that you didn't want to attend the meetings anymore or not be a jw.
was it in field service, at home, at the hall?

Hi, I am new here. My breaking point was when I had missed 2 meetings and labled as inactive. 2 meetings! Its funny now, but it made me so mad at the time. This was about 7 or 8 years ago. I can't really remember. After I had heard that I was "inactive," I thought why not just stop going anyway? The "truth" wasn't helping me find any joy anyway. I had "faded" away until now. A fter this long of being "gone" I am single and 6 and half months pregnant, and have had the elders just dying to talk to me and to attend a judicial committee meeting. The elder that first called me on the phone asked if he could talk to me. When I said yes, he then said he would have to get with the other 2 elders for a time it would be convenient for them. It clicked with me "Ahh, a judicial meeting." Sneaky elder. Right now I have 7 days to respond to them or not, as I plan on doing. I told my mother like 2 weeks ago to just tell them to do what they have to do. I am not going to sit there and give details of my "sin" to them. I know what they will say, the scriptures that they will read, and all that. I just can't say that I will repent and go to their meetings when I am sitting there thinking "So where in the Bible did that come from?" I feel very bad for my Dad and kinda scared for him because when I didn't show up for the meeting they wanted to have today they talked to him. He asked them where they had been for the last 7 years because in this time not one Jdub has talked to me about why I stopped going to meetings or to "encourage" (gag) to come back. Its very stressful in itself being pregnant. I am not with the father and that was another concern of theirs. That was my choice, though. I just didn't want to move in with the baby's father. So, after all these years and trying to fade away, they now want to exhibit their control. Ugh. Besides that I am pretty happy and excited about my baby.
