On this board and others, I have noticed a trend where the post I make is the last post on a thread...it sometimes bugs me; I jokingly refer to myself as 'threadkiller' at times. On a good day, I rationalize and tell myself its because I make such good posts that nobody could top them. Good days are few and far between. On bad days I figure that my posts are such crap people just don't even bother to respond to such drivel. Most days are average days, on those I just shrug philosophically and read the next thread.

How can people like Def'd stick around here?
by ithinkisee inhow can people like defd be here and see all the blatant lies by the society and still accept it?.
607 bc and 1914 are based on complete falsehood, and are only borrowed from the adventists and millerites.
the trinity brochure took almost all of their sources out of context.

Glad you like it, its my own personal invention. After reading many other posts here where people 'spoofed the troof', I caught on pretty quick and thought that one up. That was the first time I actually used it though.

Rex; even some christians/creationists are unsure on the details of the flood, though all creationists believe in the bible, some believe that the flood was only a local phenomenon. Can't you admit even the possibility of an error, when your own camp is divided? By the way, there is actually biblical reason to doubt the flood was a global event. I've been an atheist too long to quote you chapter and verse, but I'm sure others can point you in the right direction if you're not familiar with it yourself.
There's 2 relevant passages in the bible that come to mind: 1) A verse in the old testament, (I think, might be Daniel) that says something about a tree that cast a shadow across the whole world-given a spherical planet, that is impossible. It would only be possible to a people with a flat-world mentality and knowledge base. Which proves at the very least, that they and the writer(s) were not even aware of what comprised the whole world. A similar verse in the new testament refers to Satan taking christ to the top of a high mountain, to tempt him by showing him all the kingdoms of the world, and offering them to him to rule if he would switch sides. Surely you can see that even from Everest, one cannot see the Aztec empires of South America. Once again, we run into the problem of flatworld thought versus roundworld reality. Seeing and realizing this, some christians adopt the 'partial flood' stance; believing that only the known world surrounding the mediterranean sea was flooded, as to the people of that time period that WAS the 'whole world'.
Even with that compromise view, the creationist camp runs into problems, because a partial flood wouldn't cover all the mountains...but thats a different argument for another thread, and has been hashed over before.

I've already been beaten to Nights in White Satin a couple times over, I would also suggest Fire on High by Electric Light Orchestra; 2112, Xanadu, and others by Rush; some of David Bowie's stuff is pretty trippy; ditto Pink Floyd; Children of the Sun by Billy Thorpe...that's all I can think of at the moment.

I have a theory about defd, at least, it may apply to a few others as well. Forgive me if this is a known thing already, but I suspect defd is DF'ed...thus the name. If I am right, he is being shunned, and misses being part of the collective. I think whoever said he enjoyed being a "whipping boy" was spot on, too. Combining that with my own theory, I get the picture of someone who comes here because there are a lot of ex dubs here, which is the closest he can get to hanging out with real dubs, and as penitence for whatever he did to get DF'ed, he takes on the Herculean task of arguing with everybody here with no chance of winning...and hopefully getting back into Jehovah's good graces by doing so. Also, having everybody here lash out at his antics gives him a sense of validation because he 'knows' that "now since you have the truth, you will be persecuted".
Just a theory...I could be way off base, but it would sure explain a few things, like why a faithful dub would hang out on an apostate board, strictly against directions from the elders of the [Viet] Cong-gregation.

I think us apostates and Anti-WT activists need a LOGO.
by nicolaou ini'm rubbish in the graphics department but perhaps we could get a few simple designs posted here.
something simple that could be included in the header of any of the hundreds of apostate websites.
it might just convey the feeling of solidarity to a common cause.. it shouldn't contain a url, just a short tagline and logo.. .

Umm...forgive me if I'm being uppity here, I realize that most of you have been here far longer than me, and been hurt by the WTS far worse than me. However, seems to me that having an obvious identifier like a logo would hurt the apostate cause, rather than help it. I have read many posts in which the writer admitted that they only came to this forum originally because they THOUGHT it was an official JW site. Once here though, many of those same posters said they were curious, or found something that shocked and/or opened their eyes. Having an identifiable logo that the WTS could find out about and then warn all the congregations to avoid like the plague would prevent most JWs from even looking at a site that used it.
Just my 2 cents...some of the ideas presented would make really cool t-shirts, ball caps, and stuff like that, though.

Where did the insects go?
by Ring Wielder in.
i might be a bit green on this one....but no one has ever given me a satisfactory explanation of how all the millions of kinds of insects survived the flood....any thoughts?

I suppose they went to the same place where god miraculously preserved saltwater fish on a planet flooded with freshwater.

Dungeons and Dragons game & JW urban legends
by rebel8 indoes anyone remember this game from (i think) the early '80s?
it's a role playing game of some sort that included some violent imagery or something.. i remember jws (and the media, come to think of it) making a big, big deal of it.
something like it was demonized or made kids murder people.

eating disorders in JWs
by girl_interrupted inwhat would the jehovah's witnesses have to say about eating disorders?
presumably any kind of mental illness is frowned upon and put down to weakness of the spirit.....i know when i was in it, one sister was severely chastised for having depression....she was told to have more faith in jehovah and presumably when she did, her husband would stop beating her and sexually abusing their kids which was understandably the source of her depression!

If anything, my wife has gained a couple pounds since becoming involved with the JWs. Then again, that's typical of someone trying to quit smoking, which she is, in part because of JWs. Very interesting that the WTS should ban smoking, yet they own stock in RJ Reynolds? Do you have any proof of that, a link or anything? I'm trying to show my wife the hypocrisy of the WTS (unsuccessfully as of yet), and that would be a good one if I can get her to look at it.

Hahaha...this reminds me very much of something I saw years ago, called the perfect joke. I just checked to make sure the website is still active, and it is.
