We are going to see a housing in this country that is just going to be heartbreaking. We are hearing warnings, but I don't think many of us are prepared for how horrible it is really going to go.

Do you believe we are alone (Aliens, God and Angels)?
by Layla33 ina post someone else made, just made me want to start a discussion on the ideas of aliens, people from other planets, etc and our ideas of god, jesus and angels/demons.. the first time i ever even thought about this on any real level was when i was taking a greek mythology course and we were talking about avatars and the like, at the very same time i was taking a philosophy course and started discussing "did god create man or did man create god".
it was during that semester that that a group of friends and i started having these very existential discussion which lead to some very interesting questions and dialogue.
i have never looked at things the same.. flash forward to about three and a half years ago and through a chain of events, i am in a room with people from nasa working on a grant proposal.

I responded to this topic and then the server frooze, twice.
The NASA people I discussed this with and there were about six, did not come out and directly say there are beings from other planets, they talked around it and didn't dismiss it totally. I will go further to say that we started talking about life on other planets and in a weird way they implied that some of our technology is from other planets, hard to explain you had to be there. The thing that came to mind was nanotechnology.
As for "God" and the heavens, we say the "spirit realm", but where is this spirit realm and whose account are we going by anyway? I think we have tried to create a "religion" based on our interaction with beings that are of higher intelligence and light yeas over us in every way. We pray to a creator, and we say "God", but there are many gods to be quite honest. If we are solely going by the biblical explanation, realized that it took 300 years for the bible to be cannonized, in that time, it was the idea of the theological/religious faction to rewrite, edit and make it conform to a single belief system.
God/Jehovah/Yahweh or the highest power is not a human, so what exactly is it/he/she (whatever pronoun works for you)? Isn't it possible/feasible that this being we consider our highest authority and that we pray to, is non-human and not from this world, thereby an "alien" and from another world?
I really believe ancient Egyptians had contact with other beings on a regular basis. Why I do not know.

Hi guys, I'm new here.
by spanteach ini'm a former jw or joho as one of my sister's schoolmates used to call us.
(reminds me of the hojos we used to stay at for assemblies :d) i was raised as a witness, baptized at the age of 14 due to my father's constant pressuring.
i'm in my mid-30s now and i stopped attending meetings three years ago.

I don't have any problem with any of the things we were taught in the congregation and I still believe in Jehovah and his guidance. There are still some things that I miss about it, like volunteering at assemblies and getting to know people from other congregations. I'm just not going to be told what to do by a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites who are in the forefront of the congregation and who decide for themselves that because I'm not breaking my neck to get in 70 hours a month AND support myself financially I'll be destroyed at Armageddon. Whew, okay, that's all. Any questions, class? LOL
Interesting...
Welcome. There is a plethra of information that you should find helpful.

Flash forward to about three and a half years ago and through a chain of events, I am in a room with people from NASA working on a grant proposal. These are very high level people, people that had PhD out the you know what, some of them had helped build space shuttles and design them, one person that had actually been on a space flight. After a long day sitting in a room, we started talking off topic and because of the position I was in, I asked questions directly of them. I threw out about the first time we landed on the moon - there's a lot of controvery over that subject, area 51 (a friend of mine worked at the Los Alamos lab for over five years) and the bottom line question, "are we alone, are there aliens out there that the government is communicating with on a regular basis?"
The response was quite interesting, and that's all I will say.
I say all of that to say, my personal view is that we are not alone in this universe, that there are being from other planets. However, people are free to think what they want on this.
Which brings me to the question of God, Angels, Demons, etc...
We discuss "the heavens" and we say "our creator" and we talk about "angels/demons" as if they are not of this world, well where exactly is the heavens and where is these things that we call "angels" and "demons" and everything in between. Isn't it plausible that heaven is just another planet and that our bible is really a lot of man made justifications and retelling of our interaction with beings from other galaxies and such?
I am curious about other people's thoughts on this. I have more to say, but I would really like to read what other people think.

And the funniest thing about it is that the so-called early day disciples and Jesus were beard having, long haired, wore jewerly, drank wine, wore open toed sandals and were easy going down to earth people. Wherever they went, they tried to fit in with the crowd. And there is no way they didn't like a good party, or having some merry.
If they were around today, they would look at these uptight people and laugh their heads off.
In the "new world" or whatever they are talking about when the judgment days comes around, do you actually think "god" is going to care if you wore a denim skirt versus pants versus some uptight nun's uniform? Come on.

If Bush/Cheney stay in office another term, we are going to have a civil war in this country and it is going to be very ugly.

Were You Ever Counseled Because Of What You Wore (or didn't)?
by minimus inafter reading the thread about what is acceptable to wear and not wear in a factory run by jehovah's witnesses, i wondered whether any here ever got counseled or in trouble because of their fashion sense or attire.
-
Layla33
I got counseled by our CO that coloring my hair was considered to be a sign of homosexuality.
Okay, I just have to laugh. JWs are some of the most homophobic morons on the planet. There is nothing remotely associated with being a homosexual in your choice to dye your hair. My goodness.

I am still out on how this will actually go down, but Obama has lost any chance at the presidency. I haven't spent enough time reading the counts that Hillary has versus Obama, but one report I read said it was nearly impossible for her to overtake him, but on another note, it may be possible.
There's a part of me that thinks this is all a set up and even the entire Obama presidental bid and the take down was very well orchestrated. Who knows?

Scariest Movie you have ever seen?
by Layla33 ini know as exjws, probably for the most, there was a secret freedom in watching horror films without thinking you would have a demon as a bed buddy.. i am not very fond of every horror movie, but i will watch those that have an intelligent side to it and is not gore for the sake of gore.
like "the ring" got me going when i first watched it, just like "the blair witch project" did, which is more about suspense.
anyway, i never saw any of the saw movies, so i am going to try to watch saw iii tonight, since it is on showtime.

Okay, I think me and this movie are coming to an end. Too much gore, not that it is scary, it's too gory, I am trying to get through it.
I just thought about, the scariest movie I have ever seen, that I watched until almost the end is a japanese movie called "The Audition". It was horror at the very basic level.
