How did you handle facing the reality of death?
by song19 infor those raised or who got the truth at a young age, how have you been able to handle the reality that you are in fact, eventually, going to die in this system?.
for me, this was a real hard reality check.
as a witness, my entire life i was convinced that i would see armageddon, that i wouldnt grow old and die.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

i have 2 sons, 30 and 34. one is active the other is not.
i know that i wll not recieve a call from them today.

Shock and Awe Doctrine/Changes- Watchtower Comments
by burningbridges inhey everybody, i wanted to compile some watchtower / book references of doctrine changes or absolutely horrific comments the watchtower has said to show to my soon to be ex husband (i'm trying to get him to drift, so far it is not working, like at all, but i'm hopeful.
) here's a good example of something that did shock him though!!!!

These type of admonishments are not only borderline abuse, but to very indoctrinated and unbalanced people, can be interrupted incorrectly where someone's making a statement about their free will and individuality causes a child, parent or wife/husband to be abused, beat and mistreated.
When I read these types of things it just makes me completely ill. What a disturbed religion. I so understand all the people who have suffered through this regime of control.

One ugly post, does not an abuser make. A history of such posts, is another matter indeed.
You have said a mouthful. Once you understand the manner in which some people respond, you won't get so offended, but the manner in which some people continually write says a lot more about them (possibly over inflated ego, inappropriate sense of grandeur, overly abusive masking an inferiority complex or just way too passionate about an online debate) - either way say your peace and move on, and if it is their pattern, let them stew in it is what I say.

Went to Victoria Secret and had a flashback of Conventions...

Then two steps later - no more than three sales people directly in front of you, "HI, have you been helped today? Hope you are having a great day!"
"Thank you, but NO, thanks, just browing..."
So then I get to the thongs/panties/nighties/bras that I already know what I am getting
and I swear two more people come out of nowhere on either side -
"Do you need any help..."
"NO THANKS, I know what I want..."
Meanwhile two women that actually need help are patiently looking aimlessly around trying to get help finding something in their size...
It just brought back flashbacks of getting innundated with the fake greetings at the kingdom halls and conventions and being hounded.

You handle abusive people on the board the same way you handle abusive people in real time, you take away their power. This is a discussion board, people are bound to have differences of opinion, we don't all sit around and play pattycake with each other, but there is a fine line between debating and being abusive, when it becomes the latter, ignore them or as Simon said let the moderators know, but honestly, don't empower them and they will go away. Trust me.

Yes, all the time, it was almost a gut reaction to try to explain away the "new light" or "errors of the past" of the organization. Because of the overt need to make people appear to "super zealous" in a stepford kind of a way, people had to lie to not show what they were really doing or thinking.
