  both ffs are married; they are claiming it was/is an 'emotional affair' only.

  this is his second 'emotional affair.

  i read this in an article speaking about mark lester being named the godfather of mj's kids during a private baptism at a catholic church.

  Part of all the 'being excommunicated' and still being catholic is this; ex-communication to a catholic means that they are in a sin that keeps them from communion. Remember when the pope or a bishop said that certain acts would keep a person from taking communion? Like voting for abortion or some politician? That is an acknowledgement of the scriptures regarding not even eating with such a man, and not partaking of the lords supper unworthily. Going against church/bible teachings would keep them out of comunion. When you see people not partaking at a catholic church it might well be that they haven't been to confession and/or realize that they are under a serious sin that they need to overcome or discuss with a spiritual leader to ensure they are right with God-so to speak. Officially, excommunication doesn't remove a person from the catholic church, it keeps them from being in communion with other christians-they don't get a free pass even WITH confession. Officially adultery USED to keep a person from communion for a certain period of time, while they were still expected to be at mass and stuff.

  The catholic church may count you as a catholic forever, I don't know anything about that. Numbers on a page don't count as much as the butts in a pew do. Most polls are done with the attendees who declare their own religion, so high counts by the church doesn't do anything real to boost numbers/tithes/attendance.

  Rebel8, I am sure it was framed as specific discrimination because of their brand of religion, and it may well have been. Thats still no excuse for it going beyond the following monday and being fixed.

  I saw JWs say that when victims of pedophiles sued that they were only doing it for the money . It is a bad thing to sue for money if you are suing the WTS, but apparently morally justifiable if suing AT&T? Back pay is one thing, but should they accept any more than that-ethically or as christians? Hmm.

  The company was stupid. After the one supervisor was an ass about it, they should have stopped the train right then and there. They let it go on for reasons I have not been able to discern. Anyone have any insight into why it went so far?

  MMmm, last I checked, the catholics baptise their children and consider them baptised. They do confirmation later, but still, baptism/christening is the same thing in the catholic world I am familiar with.

  The catholic church here won't let parents have kids baptised unless BOTH parents attend a weekly class for a few weeks previous. For EACH child (or baptism session-if two kids were being baptised at the same time, just one class) My husband is catholic, which is how I know this.

  Good for Jermaine, but his mom is JW and my experience on a personal level is they don't mind pulling that particular rug right out from under you.

  i would say of myself... regardless of my strong beliefs or feelings on things i can not hurt peoples feelings i love kindness , true connection , peace and peace of mind are everything to me... no cruelty even to animals.

  Did you Leave the Room for Birthday Parties as a kid?

  in elementary school, the teachers would allow parents to bring in brownies/cake/cupcakes/ice cream to celebrate a studen'ts birthday.. and you were supposed to leave.

  or tell the teacher that you would not be partaking of pagan desserts.. but.

  NO birthday parties in elementary school, I missed every one. I did make a sugar easter egg in the 3rd grade and felt so guilty about it that I gave it to my bus driver (like I could bring it home!!!) , but there was a JW who held seances every day in drama class in jr high. . . My Jr. high days introduced me to a whole other class of JWs. The one who ignored every rule. Forgot about them till now. I wonder what the kids who I attended the KH with were like around real people? (my mom rebelled and kept us in the old cong. when we moved and since she was still a study, they let her, which meant we didn't attend the same schools as the kids in our hall did except one elder who did the same thing. I was told it wasn't allowed normally).

  MY APOLOGIES TO ALL

  looking back over the last few weeks, i think i've been unnessarily rude to some posters and i just want to apologize to anyone who has been on the receiving end of my anger recently.. i believe that i'm so angry, dismayed, devastated and heartbroken over what's happening to my brother in law, that i've been taking it out on others and that's not right.

  it makes absolutely no difference what i think of the wts as a whole, or whether or not americans have a universal healthcare system......none of that makes any difference whatsoever when someone you love and has been like your brother for 35 years is dying and there's not a fucking thing we can do about it.. my sister just called me and there's more bad news, and that's that his disease has now progressed into the acute myeloid leukemia which means he cannot start the therapy they were going to give him, as this is far more serious now.

  they want to start chemo right away, but his blood counts aren't up high enough for him to survive.
