Your GF is smart! My poor mom does not have the cognitive skill to realize how she is driving her grandkids away from her. She is constantly making remarks about their family traditions, religion or the world in general that freak out my brother and sister and then they tell her not to speak to the kids, they won't let them be alone with her on meeting nights(to make sure she isn't tempted to take them). Well, she is alcoholic, so they don't allow her to drive them anywhere anyway, but the entire thing is a mess. She just doesn't know how to leave her twisted moral judgements out of ANY conversation with the kids. The kids all go to nice, normal churches, so my mom, naturally, confuses them!

A truly mind boggling experience
by Iamallcool ini dated someone earlier tonight and she looks pretty good, she invited me over to her home.
she has a very good salary(she has phd degree) but i do not understand why she chose to live in a white trash mobile home park.
i asked her how long she is going to live there, she said she just signed 2 year lease last month.

She just signed the lease, dude. It probably still smells like either the previous tenants or the previous items stored there:) Perhaps here things were in storage for the last 15 years while she was in university and she just got them out! Jeez. (I can say Jeez, we aren't JWs here!). I can also say she is "lucky" to have escaped your attentions:)
I'd be interested to see the apartment you rent and the car you lease and your payments, but that's just me, being kind of catty.

Wow, a single wide mobile home! Maybe your PHd used to do volunteer work in a less affluent country and she has a different perspective of what is necessary and important in a home than you do. One person does not need a double wide.
See, if you told me that this smart beautiful woman was debt free with a high income, had 3 kids(with plenty of child support) and chose to live in Watts, then I wouldn't think you were a doofus. You have said nothing that indicates unsafe or unsanitary conditions, merely humble and simple.

If I didn't know it was from the WT, I would have thought it a tool to mock the WT with. We've seen more subtle mockery than that even, I bet. It's so bad. The thing is-it will die a natural death as the only redeeming thing in it is the first bit with the plane falling from the sky and the little boy finding it. That was good. Of course, there was no dialogue or details, but it was cute. (although a little scary)

Caleb's Mom has some serious issues
by bats in the belfry in.
calab's mom is exhibiting some really psychopathic streaks in talking to him.. her facial expression is on the weird side of things.
if that is the kind of talking to i would have gotten over the years, eventually i would have saddled up, lock and loaded - at best moved out of home at an early age.. .

What struck me as terribly 'off' was the childs reaction(imagined response) to the idea of upsetting his mom over the floor incident. Why would a normal kid even imagine that their mom would lose their mind over 8 footprints? Please! Is the WT trying to tell moms that this is an appropriate response to naughty children? Or children to think that it is something they should expect from their moms? Either way it is twisted.
As a mom, I tried to go with the "don't cry over spilled milk" approach. I think this results in a lot less temper tantrums (on both ends)

She jumped off the dam...
by TimeBandit inback in 2003/4 when i was living in truth or consequences, new mexico there was this sister and her non witness husband that moved into our area.
it was plain to see that the sister was suffering from serious mental problems.
she was a very nice lady, but was unstable a lot of the time.

Such a sad story. A reminder to us all to find compassion for those who don't quite 'fit in'. This lovely lady sounds as if she was really trying to pull herself out of the pit she was in, but she didn't have the tools. I appreciate your compassion for her and I can guarantee you that she did too.

How long until we see a "Sunday School" program?
by Cinciguy74 inso we are seeing wt videos aimed at children, a feature for children in the watchtower aimed at young children, just how long until we start seeing some form of a sunday school for young children?.
i know in the past it has been ridiculed by the wts, but the reality is that it is a better method for teaching children than sitting in the kh where they can't sit still for more than 5 minutes anyway..

The most the WT would do is stick them in the 2nd and 3d schools with an equally dull program geared towards warping smaller minds. There would be no coloring books, no fun involved. I could see them doing that, but like Mrs. Jones said, no WAY would they put out any money to provide for children in the organization.

To the OP, don't dismiss this just because it is the "first time". All of us have had first times, and let's face it, they were NOT the only time. I am not trying to be flippant-but you need to take this to a professional at some level-and as another poster indicated, you need to let the other parent and child know that you are NOT dismissing this! How traumatic is that to them? It is horrific! This is serious to the extent that you should be discussing sons behavior with his doctor, teacher and probably a school counselor. Yes, they will watch him with an eagle eye for any further indicators-but YES, you want that. This is your son's LIFE we are talking about and growing up with some crazy malajustment that a loving parent dismissed could be tragic. If this was just a crazy one-off, then that is all it will be-but you need to have the adults in his life paying attention.

Do women like being checked out?
by MC RubberMallet inbefore, when men looked at a woman, they were fresh.. nowadays, when they don't look, they're gay.. i know each woman is different, so answers will vary, but in today's world, women react a lot differently to things that were once distasteful.. so which one is it?.
fyi - i don't do that enlongated creepy guy stare..

I am a western woman living in Egypt. I am continuously checked out, even though I am 45 years old and not particularly attractive. What I am is different-fair skinned and blue eyed and I speak English. Sometimes I feel admired, sometimes I feel ogled-it really does depend on the guy and his personal motivations and inclinations. The creep factor exists, definitely. But I have to say it, some Egyptian guys are totally beautiful and when such a beautful person looks at me with admiration, I am flattered. Not very femnist of me, but there it is. That being said, I am as fully covered as any Muslima, so they aren't checking out my body(though I guess they can tell I am slim enough). Actually, that may be part of the attention. Most Egyptian women tend to get kind of chunky at my age. Maybe they are surprised that I am not fat since I am so old. I don't know:) (To any Egyptian women out there, no disrespect intended in any way, I think Egyptian women are beautiful-young or old, fat or skinny. Kinder and more hospitable people I have never met)
