I loved it-sap and all! And yes, the meetings totally messed with Happy Days, Lavern and Shirley and the Waltons! Screw that! I am just lucky that my mom didn't like the second meeting so much (it used to go pretty late and she had 3 little kids). We lived close to the book study on Thurs, so we got home pretty quick(my mom wasn't a big socializer)

You know what just occurred to me about the lawsuits? Desperate bid for publicity. The fact that it is idiotic needn't disuade the WT from suing everyone. You know what all the no-talent celebrities who are caught with no panties or doing something ridiciulous are up to-putting to practice the theory that "There is no such thing as bad publicity" As much as i THINK this is all BS, I just got a glimpse of something about the Kardashians and remember that little empire started with some dead lawyers rich daughter getting caught in homemade porn. Think of all the no talents from the realitiy shows-they have tabloids now dedicated to their stupid post show antics.
9-11 was an evil terrorist act by extremeists that don't represent the religion, but it brought attention to Islam and it is growing by leaps and bounds in the states and elsewhere.
Maybe the WT is playing at that game? Who knows!

I just read your story-I wish I had that drive and ambition when I was young and still had all my wits about me:) Not using your brain causes it to atrophy somewhat (as you probably could confirm professionally!). Congratulations on making a positive life for yourself and offering a hopeful future to 3 children who might otherwise not have that kind of encouragement and support in a family. Happy life to you!

They get a lot out of you for that stipend. Its sounds kind of miserable. What were all the "suits" doing? They don't produce much in the way of actual content each month to justify hundreds of suit wearing folks, do they? Or is it a training facility for short term stuff like missionary training?

The OP has really strange posts then this which is confirmed by an email. I think that the copyright issues are always in play and as to the rest of it, the WT org. has no right to expect to never hear anything negative about them from the world when all they do is spout abuse at the world. Legally, they can't fight facts and if folks don't like them, then they need to examine themselves-but we all know that you can't sue for that! Now, if it is borderline harassment of an individual-another issue. LYING about the WT org-an issue. But posting exerpts from their pulp fiction-allowed under fair use laws. So there.
I don't intend to shoot any messenger, but seriously, folks. We have nothing to work with but nonsense posts. The Brooklyn Pulp Fiction Factory wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

by lola28 inhello old friends, i've been thinking about going back and need you all to give me your thoughts on it.. the last year has been a horribe one for me, in the span of less than a year the following things have happened to me:.
lost my mom to cancergot hit by a carhad a professional set back that will cost over 600k to resolveended a three and a half year relationshipit just feels like every time i think things are going to get better something else hits me and knocks me down, a small part of me wonders wether i brought all these things on myself because i left the organization (yes i know how silly that sounds) and i have given serious thought about going back.
i need you guys to talk me out of it!.

When Job had all his problems, it wasn't because he was unfaithful, it was because he was good. I don't believe any of this is god playing games with you. I am sad that you have had so many trials lately. They say that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You must be one tough broad, that's all I can say. Push through it, don't let Satan tempt you to destruction. (If anything is supernatural working here, it isn't God).

You want to go BACK??? Haven't you had a bad enough year already??? Don't do it if you are hoping for a change for better. It won't fix any of the broken things.

How an original STAR TREK episode nearly cost me my first JW marriage in its first year...true story I find funny/sad
by oompa inso i'm 21, just married, and raised in my fathers image and thank god he liked sci-fi...a genre i was able to escape to new worlds in.
he even took me to a trekkie covention when i was albout 12 at the greensboro coliseum and it was packed.
we had watched every episode over and over...i thought.

Star Trek was a JW issue? It never came up for me in my mixed household, but my mom would watch Benny Hill (I almost said Hinn and realized how WRONG that was ) with my dad, so I guess she was not hardcore in the way that others might have been. I always enjoyed Star Trek until I married my ex. He loved it. Excessively. He didn't just watch the marathons that came on a couple times a year, he watched as many of the TV episodes as he could (and it was on nearly 24/7 in Seattle, land of serious geekiness) he bought all the boxed sets (first video, then traded them in for DVD, probably has blue ray now). I love Mr. Spock, but come on!
I think Roddenberry touched on religion a LOT, just not any with current or real ones. Definitely touched on spiritual/God issues though.
Personally, I loved TNG and Voyager. I "respected" their captains more than Kirk-I thought he was ridiculously campy and fun, but I'd never get on a spacecraft with him! Still have fond memories of watching episodes before they were on 24/7. Cable is what destroyed the fun about 2 years into the marriage. Maybe it helped doom it. Who knows??

Am I seeing my JW life and exit in context?
by jemba inwhile visiting with a workmate the other day i got to thinking.
my friend has had the lowest of morals of anyone ive ever met.
she was an illegal drug manufacturer for 20 yrs, jailed 3 times, junkie for 17 years, has been a topless waitress, made porno movies and prostituted herself.

Well, forget the wild life exactly. What in her life led her to this life of crime? NO structure, NO morals, NO expectations, NO shame. And if you want to play comparison, she wins for crap life. Seriously, in perspective with her, you have it made. You also have it over a wrongly convicted person on death row, but that doesn't mean that the WT is a good thing just cause others are worse.
There can be Hitler AND Stalin. . . .who both give a little perspective to our view of Nixon-but that doesn't make Nixon a national hero:)

Love You Guys - Thank You - You Saved Us
by headisspinning inhello to all my jwn friends.. it has been a long while since i posted but it's only because all of you helped us so much.
i recently directed a facebook friend to my very first post on jwn - high profile case seeking reinstatement - i cannot believe how far we have come and i attribute much of it to the help and support we received from all of you on this website.. we are really not hiding our ex-jw status anymore at all.
i think we have many of you on our facebook as friends at this point.
