All of the explanations will soon be on videos that they show in the halls because this stuff is too hard for non-professionals to repeat with a straight face. Seriously-their simple bible beliefs cannot be explained by the R&F JW adequately-because it is totally illogical and irrational and stupid. Anyone charged with coming up with an explanation for it would lose all faith in the teaching unless they were medicated or something.

This weeks service meeting! More craziness.....
by stuckinarut2 inso this weeks service meeting is so full of "crazy".
a whole 15 min part devoted to trying to indoctrinate everyone on how to "explain our beliefs on 1914".
then another 15 min part called "a tool to help us explain our beliefs about 1914".

Man grant divorce from wife who refused sex
by usualusername ina court in dubai has granted a divorce to a man who says his wife is possessed by spirits and refuses to have sex with him, reports suggest.. after persistently denying him sex, the woman finally told her husband to discuss the issue with her parents, the gulf news daily reports, without naming the couple.. they told the man that his wife was, in fact, possessed by a jinn, and that several religious scholars had unsuccessfully tried to exorcise the spirit, the paper says.. upon hearing this, the husband lodged a divorce case with the dubai sharia court.
his lawyer told a hearing: "the woman and her family cheated my client.
they should have been honest and clear about the fact that the wife was possessed by a jinn.

He was granted a divorce because his wife refused sex. The "jinn" thing-that she has mental illness is also actually grounds to void a marriage in this country and many others. Among JWs from a post I read a few months ago, refusing a husband sex is not grounds for a 'scriptural' divorce.
That this made the news is only because the woman's excuse was brought up in court. There was never a marriage.
In such a situation, traditionally, the man would get back his marriage gift (in full or part, depending on circumstances) and they would simply part with not recriminations or big public to-do.
The man did not insist on or 'take'his marital rights. He respected her wishes. Except for giving her alimony:)

A question for my friends in the USA about cowboys.
by punkofnice inas a kid growing up in the uk we used to play 'cowboys and indians' and watch high chaparal and bonanza along with other cowboy films.
later, in the 70's kung fu would be shown with caine going through the 'old west'.
we even had a chocolate bar that was marketed with a 'cowboy' theme...milky bar.. as far as i know the 'wild west' as shown on tvdidn't actually exist.. are there people that believe it did?.

I have seen the Alamo and the quote from Davy Crocket "You may all go to hell. I shall go to Texas".
The Alamo is a tiny building and it was part of the mission system here in Texas. In San Antonio there are several within a few miles of each other. We have hispanic cowboys now and supposedly the difference between a real cowboy and a fake is how shiny new his boots/truck is. There are still cowboys and Indians and ofttimes(in Texas, anyway) they are the same guys.
Being a cowboy is a JOB and there are still cows, still cowboys all over the world. The basic conflict in the 1800's was won by whites as they control most of the land now. The conflict was about land then (and where I am from, fishing rights, now) but it usually IS about land-everywhere in the world, isn't it? Just different native populations-results vary!

Old Books
by Jeannette ini have about 30 old books that i have collected over the years and i don't know what to do with them.
i wouldn't mind getting a little money for them, after all, i did contribute and spend tons of money in car gas.
i have: you may survive armageddon into god's new world; what has religion done for mankind?

It's funny how much "food" they put out that has no value. It's like JWs have been eating fried pigskin and cotton candy all these years.

December 1,2014 watchtower saying buying house is bad
by hoser inpage 15.
"take for example a christian couple in asia.
in their younger years, they admired those who could afford to own a house.

The article was about a couple that "in their younger years". They are not so young now, presumably. Maybe they can't work now. Too bad they didn't buy a home to live in and their kids are bugging them for money to help support their ministry as Pioneers or Bethelites (If they haven't shunned them for being DFd).

"Jehovah's Witnesses do better after surgery without transfusion" - Article (July 3, 2012)
by Da.Furious inthis article from 2012 published by the birmingham news showed up on my facebook page.. what i would have liked to see in the statistics is the inclusion of total jws refusing blood transfusion and their survival rate not only the ones taht surviced, taking about only survivors is not like for like comparison in my opinion with patients who take blood transfusion and then dont survive.. .

I haven't looked at this particular referenced study, but if related to the one I DID look at, they really skewed the results by readying the JWs with nutritional and other medical preparation for some time before surgery to make sure that they were as well prepared as possible (all proped up with as much help as possible). It wasn't really a fair study as the patients who took blood did NOT get any special preparation beyond normal. EVERY single patient would have had significantly improved results had they had the same preparation. So, to me, it looks like a study that was commissioned by the borg. If this is the same one-there you go.

Eh, my samsung galaxy something works pretty darn good. I have a really cute pink case on it and really, if I can call and text then what else matters? I don't answer the phone (or care where it is) half the time. It is here for my convenience and no one elses and now that I have googlemaps mastered and all my numbers in there, why upgrade? You know they will break or get lost or stolen usually before they go totally obsolete.
I'm very content:) Aren't folks OVER the whole I-Phone thing yet?
I wouldn't stand in line to see Jesus arrive. As we have seen, even that is a wasteful use of expectation!

In many Asian countries, the dilemma may be between owning, renting and living with family. Rent in most asian countries I have been to is not really cheap. The only way many people have homes is that they live in large family homes with several groups or generations-which is likely what that couple resorted to rather than renting. Just helping out mom with utilities is a lot cheaper!
IF the "story" actually has any basis in fact.

Missed "Happy Days" and "The Waltons" We got home in time for "Three's Company" and "Benny Hill" though. I would have preferred the "wholesome" shows, but family programming was over on tv by time we got home. . .

Watchtower made money off Hurricane Katrina?
by Coded Logic inso i just heard from someone who was on the rbc that when they were working on homes after the hurricane before they could start work on a brother or sisters house the brother or sister had to first sign a form that the wtbts could collect all their insurance money.
and that since all the labor was free (and many of the brothers on the rbc provided construction materials our of their own pockets) that the wtbts actually made money off of the disaster.. has anyone seen or heard this before and is there anyway to confirm it?
it really sounds like something the wtbts would do.

I know that there are quaified brothers to help those in need-so they should give immediate (financial, food, clothing, shelter) assistance to any JW who needs it,but repairs only to those who have no insurace or way to pay for it. Why would anyone with insurance want a bunch of dodgy construction guys doing their repairs? I knew that while many brothers would eagerly help, that many were ridiculously unskilled. My dad helped at a few quick builds and often around different halls (he was not a JW, but he was part of the community via my mom and called upon regularly). He commented on the "yahoos" (direct quote) that worked along side him at times. He had the same comments about a lot of the Habitat for Humanity volunteers that had much better intentions than they had know how or ability. My dad was a "do it" kind of guy, not a guy that showed folks how to do it. He had no patience for incompetents or training, unfortunately. Anyway, I would rather hire a known professional construction crew to repair my home. Just sayin'. My dad could only do so much. . . and turned down paid positions with H4H because of it. Dealing as a contractor for years he knew too much about OSHA and dealing with homeowners, subs and everyone else. :) He would rather build a house alone than with folks who needed constant direction. (He appreciated kind intentions, he just didn't have a personality to be patient with training situations)
