Vidiot, do religions have tax exempt status everywhere? In the UK?
More importantly, why would that court case remove their tax exempt status?
hi there, although i have been a lurker here for a while now i've not yet posted a new topic, so here goes nothing lol.. i have been thinking a lot lately on all the changes and the branch visits, specifically the uk branch visit where apparently it has bean mentioned the great tribulation is about to start.. since i've not heard the full talk and only heard certain items from it i got to thinking that maybe this is the org's way of saying the watchtower is about to go down due to all the cover ups and the long list of discrepancies.. maybe i am way off the mark here, what does everone else think?.

would like to hear about any experiences anyone has had with the so called ' anointed ' .
someone suggested that i should introduce myself and how i got here.
this has been a crash course in the jw world.
i got an email that said "good bye, have a nice life".
I am sincerely glad that as a child and woman advocate that you are better educated about the JWs. When you come across JWs family crises, you will better know how to advocate for them effectively, hopefully-or you just won't be as clueless as most people are. The organization looks pretty harmless from "a distance".
At first I didn't understand why you didn't research the cross-then you described your life and it made perfect sense! I wish I had a strong woman like yourself nearby to kick my assertiveness in the backside a bit. You would be a great mentor!
Take care of yourself. Congratulations on getting away from the elder and getting your mom into a facility and out of your home when she is dangerous.
first time, been lurking for years, but i asked my husband who has been studying for 20 plus years if he has ever questioned those that were "teaching" him.
blew my mind.
i ask him all the questions that you have asked yourself, but he will not ask them.
20 years living with JW speak. OUCH! That she didn't leave already is a testament to her patience.
Her husband is trying to please everyone in his life. If he doesn't ask questions, he doesn't have to deal with the answers.
He is in a happy enough place-his family is happy with him, he still has a wife. He found the middle road so that he could keep it all. In his situation, he may feel as trapped as every JW with family/job connected to the Borg. His family home, his job-all in the same place.
He just trying to keep everyone happy(or off his back), perhaps, and not rock his own boat too much.
if youve followed the news lately there are more and more child abuse cases popping up.
one lawyer said he has over 28 cases in the pipeline that are going to be coming out soon.
on december 1 st a new one just popped up.
I think that it isn't that hard to liquidate.. . lots of cash can buy things that are ostensibly the organizations, but which are portable and easily disposed of (gold, jewelry, cash). If there are accounts overseas of investments, or even here, if they get it out, put in into cash and leave, they are guilty, but easily out of reach of anyone who would go after them for it. Someone would have to clean up the mess. . . but it wouldn't be THEM.
There is a possibility that years ago I read too much John Grisham, but I don't think this stuff is rocket science.
did you watch the story about the jw who was working as a burger boy at some diner and his boss wanted him to work on sunday during the time of his meeting?
this faithful jw decided he could not attend a later meeting (6 pm sunday meeting) and soon quit his job(or got fired to attend his sunday meeting) so he could attend the sunday meeting he was assigned to.
i think he was on welfare because this story states he won't work on sunday morning because that's when his meeting is!
In our local halls, there are 3-5 congregations. He refused to keep his job because he would have to change meeting TIMES? No one said he had to work from 5am-8pm!
I remember when I was a kid and changing halls to one that one was not assigned to was a huge issue. My mom and her best friend/next door neighbor both moved from one cong. to another (same hall). Neither one wanted to change congs. The friend was baptised, but really new. My mom still didn't take the step of baptism and since we moved tothe same neighborhood just down the road from the cong. they let them stay in the old congregation. It was an actual kerfluffle to let two JW families, new/weak/study to stay in the congregation that they knew and loved. I thought it petty then and seeing this guy and what he did just to not go to a different meeting tells me that it is still held as very important/near critical to stay in the assigned cong-whether you have to quit your job to do so or not.
NO, I don't feel sorry for the guy. He bought into a lie and watched his family suffer for it, let taxpayers suffer for it. . . while he went bowling. He couldn't travel? Cause that is unlike what the apostles or Jesus did. . .REALLY?
Why did new JWs get their prayers answered more readily? Is that an actual teaching (before now-cause they said it, so it must be truth, right?)

question: will husband and wife live together after the resurrection is completed, if both are in harmony with god?.
the most that we know is that here will be no children born during the last 100 years of the millinnium (isa.
Wow. This gets filed. Didn't think sex reassignment surgery had become possible back then:)
I truly cannot believe the crap they came/come up with. And that they were ever considered credible at ALL.
ok bible scholars, do i have this right?.
jehoopla promised the israelites lots of great stuff in the promised land, but they didn't believe him so they sent spies to check it out.
they came back with fruit so large it had to be carried on a branch by 2 men.. from this, dubs believe they are going to have strawberries the size of king king's skull when they get to their own promised land (the new system).
Let's face it, folks, there is nothing sexy about a strawberry the size of king kong's head. Or a grape. They are perfect for us normal sized human beings right now-and we don't need to have a family the size of the Duggars to justify slicing into a strawberry!
The way they are sized and taste now are perfectly made for eating and enjoying. Having grown strawberries, my best suggestion is find a way to keep slugs away from them.
ok, l know i am not the first to notice or likely comment on this, but as little as i respect commenting on persons, i am going to do it now.. lett seems like a charicature.
he is so strange-i cringe when i watch him speak.its as ifhe was once given advice to speak slowly and clearly and now he just talks like a cartoon.
he creeps me out.
eh, I have watched the others and I have seen a lot of JW speakers over the years. Good and bad. The last memorial I went to was a man who was supposedly annointed and it was the best memorial I ever heard-and I was hostile towards JWs particularly then. He actually spoke about Jesus in such a warm and loving way that I think he was actually a real follower.
I havent ever before felt the need to pick on the way they look, though I might pick on speaking style a bit-I really think that its a weak thing to do, so I am ashamed of myself. I might criticize the content/speech, but to pick on the person is mean (god forgive my meanness). He just wigs me out.

Flipper, please don't disrespect Mr. Rogers!! He was really sincerely a good guy, not just trying to look like one.
