Consider the "outcome" when elders apply the two-witness "rule"
by AndersonsInfo injehovahs witnesses two-witness rule is applied by elders when a witness member accuses another member of a sin, even if that sin is a criminal act.
if there arent two witnesses to the accusation, it goes nowhere, including not being reported to the authorities.
and in the case of an allegation of child abuse, the accused is free to molest again.. watchtower attorney, jim mccabe, recently stated this about jehovahs witnesses two-witness rule which he described as a bible-based belief :.

The problem with the WTBTS is that there are no great minds. Truth can handle reason. -

I think that the attorneys/investigators on the Commission are not necessarily reading this/similar site. I think we all fail to remember that if one is not inclined (vulnerable or raised into it) that the WTS nonsense reads exactly as the schlock it is. A normal, educated person, especially a lawyer, can read through the weasel words. They probably have a class in how to DELIVER nonsense, so they sure do recognize it when they see it!
They have all kinds of legal, procedural, organizational and religious stuff in front of them. They are not idiots. OTOH, they may have gotten a few clues from ex JWs as part of their research and due diligence-which they OBVIOUSLY did, as opposed to this 'expert' witness. Honestly, I don't think they'd need to be clued in by us. They have real dirt that they can use-not anecdotal, not our opinions.

This whole RC process with all the troublesome churches and organizations, are going to be the impetus for future changes in law. It is an investigative process rather than a judicial one, and will be recommending processes and procedures to help alleviate these issues so that they don't go on for another 50 years with no one needing to take responsibility. I think we will find that some of them don't suit the WTBTS too much, but I can live with that!!! That they don't suit anyone at all is just fine if they can end some of the institutional abuses.
What is so shocking in the WT one, versus the others, are that they have consistently gone against every public interest and it IS NOT because folks were going against the rules or guidelines of their leaders 1006 out 0f 1006 show that they were doing exactly as they were told. This is coming from the top, not just a local decision that was wrong. THAT is being noted and I hope will be legislated against.

Dyakoub, absolutely true! If any here have not heard the Quran recited, it is indeed verse-it often actually rhymes. Those who listened and heard would repeat, word for word the words claimed to be from God. Believers checked each other to keep accountability.
The Bible is at times so profound and beautiful and wise, but there is no claim made that it is directly speaking the words from our Creator. The presumption that the Bible that we have today is indeed the scriptures that WERE inspired by God is kind of questionable even among Christians. All that being said, some really good stuff clearly did come through. Too bad none of us know what GOD inspired and what men just wrote off the cuff or pseudonomynously(?) recounted in the gospels and torah.
All that being said, its not a big issue in Islam other than minor bragging rights, maybe, that this "discovery" happened :) I never heard of any Muslim question that it was original, though I have seen some websites questioning it (most anti Muslim). No believer debates it much-the long standing custom of recitation has removed that particular issue from being a concern for Muslims.
HADITH (sayings), though, Muslims debate about that like Christians do the Bible, theology, doctrines, christology etc., altogether. OY! It is interesting in that hadith is NOT considered to be inspired at all. It is argued about by muslims like the Bible is by christians.

Do you feel vindicated by the exposure of the WT Society in Australia? It seems like a feeding frenzy on here! I love it. You?
by Wasanelder Once inare you pleased with the exposure of the society in australia?
do you feel personally vindicated by it?
do you think it gives you credibility with others now that all the things you said were going on, actually are documented?

I don't get the sense of this being about meting out justice, merely seeing how various troubled groups respond to the issue of child sexual abuse. What will they do with the info? It might influence regulations/laws, but it isn't going to be a kick down by the govt. Against historic abusers. . Few JWs seem brave enough to click a link that might say something they don't want to hear. JWs never think they are subject to Caesar in any case. They will just game it as they always do. -

What would a JW do if their none JW neighbor molested their 9 year old daughter???

I know what they'd do if their daughter was 13. Send her to the elders to determine if she was a victim or willing and just a skanky, fornicating evildoer.
Personal experience.
To say I am happy the WTBTS is being exposed for what they are is a huge understatement.

Not a lot of Starbucks in Utah, but they do a lot besides caffeinated drinks. Ever had cranberry bliss bar? Smores frappucino? It's pricey though so shade is a good guess. -

Is the two-witness rule really unreasonable?
by stillin ini'm picturing a situation in which a savvy 12 year old doesn't like the house rules that mom's new husband has put into place.
or something along that line.
i can certainly agree that protection of children is paramount, but who protects the real victim in those cases?

There is no perfect justice in our system of justice, but it's a darn sight better than a bunch of untrained yahoos playing at being police, investigators, jurors, judges and appellate courts . All at once.
