Kingdom Consolidation and Sales are coming – Reliable Source
by thedepressedsoul ini heard form a reliable source that a kingdom hall consolidation is going to be happening in the us.
currently they are looking at every kingdom hall to see if they could and should sell it.
any kingdom hall that has not been updated and is in a bad location (long driveway, not in a visible location etc...) will be sold.

I know that most local congregations are immigrant. We have 2 hall's with 7 congregations very close to me. Two are English. The rest are Spanish, Korean, Cambodian, and Vietnamese(smaller congregations). My mom lives in the country, 30-40 minutes away. Both hall's in the sticks, hidden in 2 smaller towns. 5 congregations, all English-speaking, over a much larger area. I figure the one in the rich area (2 congregations, lots of rich retired folks) will be relocated soon. Residential property is $. The other one is in a depressed area and has 3 congregations. I think they will stay put. The ones right near me are both on main drag-one is a brand new retail style hall (relatively small, btw)The other is right next door to a pot store (no prescription required). Not new style -

So, getting caught at a J. Rutherford memorial convocation is enough to get you disciplined. Who knew? I could have turned my mom, aunts and uncles in with a little ammo from our camping/hunting/fishing trips as a child. Man, give kids some power, why don'tcha?? -

Pledge for Global Assistance Arrangement - $15 per publisher!
by nmthinker inlast night our congregation read a letter for the global assistance arrangement combined with the traveling overseer assistance arrangement.
the "recommended" amount was $15 per publisher, which was well over $1000 for our hall.. it seemed steep.
our congregation does not have this type of money.

Caleb and Sofia used to brainwash children
by shattered_origins inokay, i need to vent.
as a newly awoken individual, i have yet to "come out" to my hard core jdub parents.
my plan was to lay low and use my unbelieving husband and baby as an excuse for my "inactivity", it has worked for the last few months.

I had to put my foot down with my mom regarding issue with my kids-not all were JW, related-I had to fight for her to use the stupid car seat! There is nothing wrong with her just having supervised visitation if she defies you on this.
I would not let the shows go past one year of age. Kids start getting attached to (stupid) shows. They have no discretion, or Barney would not exist. Just a friendly warning.

"Kingdom Halls will continue to be built or renovated in proportion to whatever the brothers are able to contribute for this purpose."
I think this is an intentionally vague phrase. It can be assumed by a loyalist that the plan remains the same. Others would ask what happened to all the money in the money grab? Does that figure into the peoportion referenced? The cynic wonders if congregations will now be awarded new hall's if they are very generous(you know how some hopeful idiots keep buying more magazine's thinking they will be more likely to win publishers clearinghouse sweepstakes?)
Any fading elders want to call for clarification?

Suicide or Real Freedom? - My Story As One Of Jehovah's Witnesses
by dubstepped in"sometimes i think the only thing i could do that wouldn't upset someone would be to kill myself.".
those were the frustrated words of my friend as we stood out in his large yard in the country, just about to enjoy a nice bonfire on a beautiful night.
what was it that could have been a lesser evil than killing himself?

I mentioned to my mom that my 2 year old grandchild had a bad night last night. She has only just started sleeping through the night well about 70% of the time. So, mom blamed Halloween. Where the church allowed animal and bible character! Not anything scary. First thing she jumps on is Halloween though she e knows sleep is a work in progress for her.
My sis had same problem and never went trick or treating g, even at a churchy, indoor event. I blame Armageddon talks!
