Ghana jw.org call for retraction
by mana11 inwe have read with interest the above front-page headline and its articlewhich was published on page 3 of your newspaper the chronicle of june 22, 2015. in the article, the writer, alfred adams of takoradi, reported that rebecca dankwa and her mother, believed to be worshipping at the jehovahs witnesses church, refused to accept blood transfusion on the grounds that their religion forbids blood transfusions, and she died as a result.. as representatives of jehovahs witnesses in ghana, we write to point out the misinformation contained in that report.
our investigation into the matter has clearly established that the said rebecca dankwa was not one of jehovahs witnesses.
since this person mentioned in the report was not one of jehovahs witnesses, we are at a loss as to why the name of jehovahs witnesses should be linked to the story.

So, what they are saying is that even disfellowshiped JWs can't receive blood if their JW mom's conscience/religion doesn't allow it. Woman was probably trying to be reinstated and mom was busy bullying her so that she wouldn't take blood AGAIN and lose hope of reinstatement. Which is proof that blood did save her life before, that JWs do DF for taking it.
You know what's sad? JW gramma will raise the other kids while defaming their mom for accepting blood when it was too late to save her. She died and will not even be mourned.

Welcome, Yinzer, your post was pretty profound to me. I have always had that exact sense. For years I didn't wear contacts because of some apocalyptic fear that I wouldn't be able to function in life if I had to worry about contact lens solution. . . glasses are more practical, right? I still had some armageddon scenario in my head that has affected relationships and personal habits. And eyewear. I can garden, bake bread from scratch and have a good supply of non perishables, but not much in material goods. Its weird and I know where it comes from. Plugging in dates for next years calendar still feels kind of odd to me and I am DECADES out of the borg. From birth I had it instilled that I would not even get my PERIOD in "this old system of things". I sure didn't worry about keepsakes for my grandchildren! I am really unsentimental and hold on to very little, take few pictures. . . I think I have mimimalized my life and my family's life because of it. I did give them holidays and I didn't take them to meetings, but I really had a shortsighted way of seeing the world. Still do.
You are young and recognize this. If your therapy is good for anything, it should be that it helps you get past this and change the things you want to change in your life and your world view. I hope it is something that is action and progression oriented, rather than just a lot of navel gazing:) I see that you are physically out, but mentally, you are still in. I hope you find a way out of the tower. Grow your hair?

Bethels all downsizing within a year?

about 80% cull within the next year?.
some have been in bethel for decades and will be sent packing, the 20% of bethelites who stay will have to do their own food, laundry and clean their flat.

there was beer and later some music.
everyone got relaxed and let down their guard and starting talking all kinds of non-theocratic stuff that you only discuss after a few beers.

however, there arose a third category who did not leave the organization, but brought a new view into their heart: jws are right in their core cause (gods kingdom as the solution to mankinds problems) but may or may not be right in their supplementary teachings, hence are not bothered about changes happening in this unimportant area..

She's running scared. She will be considered weak if she dates outside of the religion and lose respect. She might lose privileges (if she is pioneering or something). She knows that you have different expectations of dating than a JW does and she is not (openly) up to that. She may be in reality, but standing to lose her family or standing in her community flips her out. She is afraid that you will seduce her out of the organization.She probably would LOVE an excuse to leave it, but has a lot to lose inside of it, so shes backing off.
Don't waste your time. She will blame you for losing her family unless she comes to that decision (to leave the org) herself. If she stays in with you, she will always be trying to convert you-or her family will. You will have a weird family life and your kids will think Santa is really Satan. Its just a bad idea.
I'm female and raised JW. I would never have CONSIDERED dating or marrying outside of my religion. It just isn't done if you are a good JW.

83,000 theocratic facilites?
by average joe ina bethelite was telling me that there are 83,000 theocratic facilities world wide.
he compared that to 35,000 mcdonalds and 21,000 starbucks roughly to show the size of the theocratic organization.
i am not sure where the 83,000 comes from what would he be counting?

In the US many congregations share, but do you think that in timbuktoo there are 3 congregations to a hall? How about that KH across the crocodile infested river? How much do you think the borg will get from selling those kingdom halls?
They are no longer able to support printing in India without money from the US branch. Probably the US branch is happy they don't have to send any more down that particular drain. Wonder what will happen to JWs in India?

Are Jehovah's Witnesses marriages even legit?
by Joliette ini ask this because of the circumstances behind why they get married and who they get married by.
i know people say that they are really in love, they love jehovah, etc, but are these marriages even legit.
i've talked to older jw's sister who are now widowed, some of them say that they were trapped in a marriages.

Marriage happens for a lot of reasons besides true love. They always have and always will. Bad marriages exist everywhere for many reasons too. Legit? Yeah. Desirable? Not for many. People stay for reasons that are their own. Sometimes we leave them for reasons others would not deem legit.
Thats life.
