Your Opinion Pleeease
by thankyou injw girl non-jw guy.
tenuous boyfriend-girlfriend relationship.
what is more likely to strengthen a relationship?.
-
JWdaughter
If she can't take a "happy new year" then the relationship is likely doomed. Please be your natural self with her and let things develop (or not) naturally. Any falseness on your part, going against your true nature (I don't mean lose your manners and decency and revert to ape behavior, ok??!!) will just mean that she is accepting someone other than the YOU that YOU have to live with for the rest of your life. Changing your nature for another is dooming the relationship to failure. If you can't be you in dating, how will you survive a long term relationship? You are who you are. -

Another heavy load :Literature Cart Witnessing
by RULES & REGULATIONS injehovah's witnesses standing on a street corner publicly promoting the propaganda of the governing body!another ridiculous form of "forced loyalty" to jehovah.
"dirty work" that the wtbts make witnesses go through.preaching work '' lite''.putting more heavy loads on members while the ''faithful and discreet slave'' preach from warm studios without the humiliation.
what an embarrassment!.

Our Letter to Our Family
by What Now? inour families have cut off contact with us for the last several months.
they found out that we were celebrating holidays with our non-witness family.
our families were our last tie to the organization, as our former friends stopped associating with us about 3 years ago.
-
JWdaughter
"We don’t want you to think that our experience in the organization was 100% negative, because it wasn’t . We have many fond memories from growing up in the congregation, and we will admit that there are some aspects of the religion that we like, and will even miss, and people whose friendships we treasured very much. But when we weigh those few positive things against the many negatives, we must follow our hearts and consciences out of the organization."
Great letter. I loved this part, as well as where you put their choice on their own shoulders and denied their right to dump it on you.
Very powerful stuff.

Laugh-out-Loud BS from Insight Book
by berrygerry inhow would it be possible in 1,000 years to resurrect and educate the billions now in the grave?.
nevertheless, an illustration reveals what a simple, practical thing jehovah has in mind for mankind.
not to prophesy, but merely for the purpose of illustration, let us assume that those who compose the great crowd of righteous persons who come out of the great tribulation on this system of things alive (re 7:9, 14) number about 6,000,000 (about 1/1000 of earths present population).

"Nevertheless, an illustration reveals what a simple, practical thing Jehovah has in mind for mankind. Not to prophesy,. . ."
I appreciated how they presumed that their illustration reveals God's plan to repopulate the earth. Also how timely the disclaimer that it isn't a prophecy-AFTER they proclaim that is is what God HAS IN MIND for mankind! So the basic plan is God's but they aren't prophecying about the details!Did they figure in the part where they have to clean up the earth and bury rotting bodies of 4 billion people? Where does that fit into the timeline?

I lived in doha. Professionals can get great salaries and private schools for kids that are filled with expat kids who are well travelled and have big goals and potential as well as often good connections. They will be going to school with children of ambassadors, princes, high level executives and children who never question that they will go to college and who expect success.
The diversity and the fact that they are mostly somewhat transitory means they are pretty efficient about breaking barriers and making friends. Any country with a fairly tight expat community has this. I loved Qatar but the same is true of Egypt, Dubai(kind of wild, though) European countries and other places. I had a friend who grew up I Saudi and loved it, but that would be maybe a bit adventurous for you all. International schools look great on college apps.

Money Grab started in India
by cognitivedizzy ini don't know how the fellow who made the resolution from stage to send 80% of the congregation funds to the indian branch as an outright donation made it with a straight face.
and all the sheeples nodded like they understood the shit he were spewing.
i'm so mad at this cult .
-
JWdaughter
They can't get money from anyone w/o a Indian citizenship from outside country. (Non Indians cannot transfer funds to org and sneaky money laundering is something they are aware of, so don't even try back room methods.
The India branch was never self supporting. I am not sure, but I think foreigners evangelizing is prohibited also as I noted a request recently for Indian nationals to return where the need is greater.
One less country for the wtbts to support in any way, unless you are in India.

Does being a "born in" blur parental vs JW issues?
by obfuscatetheobvious inthank you to the many people who have posted their experiences and advice on this site!
i have browsed a few topics but the threads that i seem to gravitate to the most deal with family.
there is certainly a lot that i can relate to in many of the anecdotes i have read.
-
JWdaughter
I think the OP has a point. I also wonder the reverse-in fact that is what I thought the topic would be about-how many things to we chalk up to being normal family issues that are rooted in our experience as a JW family? Like the OP shows, sometimes it is hard to separate the two, but its a blurry line at best, plus as born ins, we don't even have a frame of reference for normal since the religion was so thoroughly woven into our existence-our speech, clothing, holidays, habits, entertainment-everything.
Can we ever just BE normal? My kids are impacted by my religious choices and resent them and they never had the JW experience-but how much of that is reflected from MY experience as a JW? How many generations are inadvertently damaged by this cult?

Jehovah's Witnesses accused of covering up historic sex abuse
by defender of truth inwww.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/12073247/jehovahs-witnesses-accused-of-covering-up-historic-sex-abuse.html
-
JWdaughter
"The spokesman said: "Jehovah’s Witnesses abhor child abuse, and view it as a heinous crime and sin. The safety of our children is of the utmost importance.
"Any suggestion that Jehovah’s Witnesses cover up child abuse is absolutely false. We are committed to doing all we can to prevent child abuse and to provide spiritual comfort to any who have suffered from this terrible sin and crime."
They say this every time, with every instance of abuse that they are caught out about-denying that they cover it up. Lots of smoke, there is fire. I am sick of their canned and insincere response. It is absolutely meaningless and even I have memorized it. They need to come up with a more convincing response, like an abject apology and a new resolve to help children and other victims properly.

Why do girls have a hymen?
by JWchange inif you believe humans evolved, and were not created, why would having a hymen help, especially as no other mammal has one?
if you believe humans were created by {a} god, or intelligent beings with advanced technology, what was the reason for a hymen?
i'm interested to hear your thoughts on this unusual subject, not many people talk about..
