Facing mortality after leaving the witnesses
by truthseeker intell me i'm not overly thinking this.. i'm 39 years old...still youngish...but i worry about getting old.
i look in the mirror and it depresses me.
i suppose i still cling to watchtower utopia when no one would age over 25.. i used to look forward to paradise earth because it meant all the evil in the world, nuclear warfare, terrorist attacks and sickos would be no more, but we are deep in the 21st century with no end in sight.. appreciate your comments.

I left the Borg when young, but I still get a little freaked out realising I will one day die. I don't blame the Borg for that much, I think mortality hits everyone in their 30s if they haven't had a brush with it earlier.
My mid 40s, menopause, becoming a grandparent. All together now!!! Ouch

My New Thoughts on Adam and Eve (don't laugh)
by xjwsrock inwarning for those that are still believers... this train of thought will not be faith strengthening.... i have come a long way since first stumbling on crumbs of ttatt in 2012.
(i have not come nearly as far with the wife unfortunately, but such is life.
) my critical thinking ability, thankfully, is in another stratosphere since figuring out i was a jw lab rat.

Lol. I didn't laugh til just read some of the responses. Things that have not come to mind for years came back. There is something to be said for thinking beyond what is said to what is unsaid. Thanks. -

Pshycos! - 2016 "Remain Loyal to Jehovah" Regional Convention Program
by thedepressedsoul inwow this is interesting!
i think how much emphasis this puts on "loyalty" shows their is an issue.
they're trying to plug the wholes as much and quickly as possible.

Abusers do this." Prove your loyalty to me! You are a brazen hussy if you don't do x, y and z to prove your love. If you don't, then you are a skank like the rest of women."

I would rather be in the JW cult than the ex-jw cult
by questioningmyfaith ini have posted one other time on this website.
just for the mere fact that i wasn't anger and bitter and ready to declare the gb the sociopathic criminals that so many here ascribe to, my initial question digressed to bickering over ad hominem attacks against the gb and not my beliefs that i'm questioning.
some did give me some help on my questions.

Go watch tv. I see your point, even if I disagree in some ways. I think learning another language is a great idea! I'm learning Urdu, Arabic and Spanish. Trying to learn Arabic, the other two are spoken a lot around me so there is an osmosis effect.

The last memorial I went to was decades ago. The 'anointed' brother who gave the talk spoke more about Jesus than I have ever seen in any JW gathering. I think he was secret apostate and a Christian. He was so much the exception to EVERY JW meeting/speaker I've ever been to that it seemed wise to leave on a positive note. No one has invited me in decades, though I have been overtly informed by JWs about it. -

I didn't. I had a big block of cheese from Costco they was meant to mate with butter and macaroni. I had critical business to care for, plus, no one invited me! -

Sweet 16 - Happy Birthday to Us !
by Simon init's the forum's 16th birthday today!.
amazing that not only have we lasted so long but we're still thriving and growing.. thanks to all the people and often colorful characters who've contributed to the site over the years.
some are still here with us, some have since moved on, but all have touched each others lives in some way along our different journeys.. .

Congratulations to all of us! Hey, Simon, here is an interesting statistic to find out-the growth rate of this site vs the lASt organization. Hmmmm. I wonder how they might be connected.
