Wonderful! My first cruise was on a Disney cruise (before they were called that, they were the Big Red Boat(s).
My second cruise involved the biggest school of dolphins I ever saw that showed up in the middle of the ocean as a surprise for us. Wasn't planned (it couldn't be) and is one of the highlights of my storied life!
I hope this trip is truly magical for him. In every way! And I don't know why that org is granting him wishes, but I hope he is well and happy!

The WT has claimed in years past a clergy confidentiality while denying that they are clergy. While we are sorting THAT little contradiction out, they are also claiming that their silence is something about respecting the privacy of the confession. We know that this too is a contradiction, not to mention a hypocrisy as they actually have COMMITTEES to kick folks out, they announce them from the STAGE, write DETAILED REPORTS, call legal (They apparently have an entire department to deal with child abuse cases) to see how much they can get away with NOT reporting and do wild dances around the truth so they can avoid testifying when they are found out. They hire lawyers to try to justify it. They have been doing it for years and it is getting less and less successful with every passing case.
They have been trying to utilize the "privacy of the confessional" as if they are freaking CATHOLICS or something and guess what???? There is NOTHING in the Bible that says that such sin is private or should be hidden.
That their MORALS are convenient is pretty much typical of religionists like the WT, idiotic mullahs, insane preachers and dissolute priests/monks of all persuasions (my Buddhist friend has some stories, so this is not limited to the Judeo Christian tradition in any way). Men who want to control make up rules that suit their peccadillos, preferences and convenience.

In Fairness, folks do settle out of court when they are not guilty of anything-just to shut up the plaintiff, to keep their reputation, to stop the bleeding of the finances as they pay all the various court costs. BUT, in fairness, looking at the transcript, the WT was GONNA LOSE. Clearly, the monkeys are running the zoo and it has never shown so blatantly in a US court how foolishly and horrifically idiotic the WT stance is on all of this. They clearly have no defense as they keep trying to talk around the reality that yes indeed, the WTBTS and the CCJW is inextricably linked, connected and run together.
You don't have to be guilty to settle, but the WT is clearly in the wrong and all the pussyfooting around that they do is starting to wear out the patience of the justice system. They KNOW that they can and have lost and that courts do and will find them liable. They do NOT need another precedent setting case against them and THAT is clearly and fairly why they settled.
Good for the victim. Finally some justice and if money is the vehicle. . . vroom vroom.

I'm so happy for all your good news, new friends, new challenges, new job and skills and mostly your upcoming BABIES. What a lot of blessing! Good for you and your wife. I hope eventually good for the JW family that is brave enough to reach out to you like family rather than cult enforcers:) THAT is really good news, by the way and I hope that all comes to good things.
I appreciate the wonderful start to the week that you just provided to all of us.
I'm a twin and a parent. I've heard stories, I've seen pictures. Sleep now while the sleeping is good.

I thought it was time to talk.....
by wozza ini'd like to relate an experience i had yesterday with a couple of jw's "working" with a cart yesterday.. been coming to this site for many years and these days i don't feel i've got much to contribute ,but i was out yesterday doing some voluntary work for a friend who has gone on an overseas trip .travelling around my local seaside area doing the job at hand ,i came across a couple of jw's sitting in a shelter overlooking the beach and had their trolley propped against a large public rubbish bin ,it was actually hard to see ithe trolley from most angles - whatever happened to lifting the basket to show the light stuff ...oh well .the large carpark was pretty empty except for us ,we've had pretty wet weather here lately ,bad storms and here they were set up for a days witnessing rugged up with wind and spitting rain ,i sort of thought " well that's dedication " ....that was my first thought then i pulled myself together and then thought "if i wanted to get some time in and not have to work at it too hard this maybe the place to go if i was a jw still".. well i finished my pickup and looked over at the two and realised i'd read other's experiences about approaching the cart people and wondered if talking to them would be of any benefit as i had witnessed this area for many years and my stance against the wts for hiding molestation of children is well known ,i thought, and they avoid me like the plague.. they were'nt familiar to me so i went up to them and introduced myself and quickly let them know who i was and what i am doing now as regards jw's.
they were a married couple middle aged been in for a long time and could relate to changes in the org very well to pre 1975 when i had first contact.
they pretty much suggested i was blinded to the truth ,when challenged on the royal commission into sex abuse they pointed to a case where they believed a victim they supposedly knew of in the jws was a liar ,so that's their case for the org -unbelievable.

Good for you. I've had two opportunities lately and one I kind of froze on and the next confirmed that I am getting pretty ambivalent about the entire thing. I think its a good sign, but I still regret that I didn't say something. Especially because I had a plan!!

I had a plan, but I was getting ready to leave the house and didn't want to get into it. At this rate someone will be here next week if I decide to do the confrontation thing.
It was a father and daughter. NO bible. They both had ipads and notepads (like the leather bound kind). So weird.

Childless elders need to piss off
by Steel inanyone else think it's wrong to ask a women with small children to volunteer there time, ask if they like to come to a potential study etc etc?.
my wife just spent an entire day helping with a kingdom hall reno while i babysat.
i latter stepped out and saw half the elders having coffee because they had so many people show up, they were tripping over each other.. i also have no idea what tangible skill my wife offered or why it is important she needs to be there.. i just wish these men would man up and be men, instead of just wasting everyone's time on purpose.

Ask your wife to refrain from volunteering for daylong projects as you enjoy your time together as a family. I'm sure that you can find a way to agree on appropriate time schemes. This really isn't about the elders, its between the two of you and just talk to HER. You can point out to her what you pointed out to us. Maybe she can make a tray of sandwiches or drop off some drinks for the elders to sit under their umbrellas and sip while others are working. It doesn't take a whole day commitment in any case. Two hours or other things are fair enough.

Some powerful stuff against the WT
by Giordano inin another thread a poster has been in a pitched fight with others about the results from the arc.
trying to explain away the results and minimizing the damages.
what he has failed to understand is that the society had and still does have certain policies in place that hide the sexual abuse of minors.

If it were just one case that will be resolved in April, it wouldn't be worthy of the WT hiding it. It is ALL the cases, it is the organizational ethos that created this "protect the pedophile" atmosphere. These are the "Guardians of Doctrine" who come up with the crap.
To hell with them all.

Why so few XJWs online?
by StephaneLaliberte innot too long ago, i posted a topic where i pointed out that there are about 1 million xjws alive right now.
that number only represented the disfellowshipped ones... didn't account for those who had become publishers and left or anyone else who got hurt by that group by proxy.
so, why are there so few of them online?

I think most people who were in really didn't give a crap, so when they leave it's a non event or they just change churches like normal people. The really didn't buy in. They played the game, they didn't live it.
US? We were schmucks and/or took it all way too seriously. We bought into it or we were harmed in the course of being involved or in becoming uninvolved. We are literally still recovering from the experience or in the middle of it or its just an indelible stain on our life and thinking.
