Throwing pearls after swine, and all that, you know! They have to pay for those things, so I guess they can refuse to share them, but why? If they have nothing to fear, nothing to be ashamed of. . .she should figure that all the spiritual food she can get near you would only improve her chances at converting you. Or something.

The reason why one should carefully scrutinize feedback-people can make up other names and buy one cent items all over and leave positive feedback. Check out the actual listings and prices etc. You will catch on to scams when all the previous feedback givers have very few feedbacks-if any. Glowing isn't nec. false-most of mine are very positive and I have earned every single one! But use discretion! Very new with only new people giving feedback-bad sign. My store is 8 mos old now, and while it may close(fees structure is changing)it won't be paypal related. I wouldn't give up on ebay, but I would be SO cautious when buying big ticket items. Whoever or wherever you are buying it. Be careful with craigslist too-there have been robberies and other things related to that. Its a crazy world. Eyes wide open!

Merry, so sorry for the loss of your mom. In spite of the nastiness of her religious leadership, it sounds like you have some wonderful family members, even among the JWs. Make sure to let the JW ones know why you weren't at the private gathering. What a jerk that guy was! Shelly

Have you heard this one-the end is very close, maybe 2 years
by sspo inmy good witness friend was trying to encourage me spiritually and this is what's being speculated among the witnesses.
how long was adam alone before eve was created, well at least 31 years so far.
1975 was the end of 6000 years of man's existence.. from 1975 to 2006, it is 31 years.. when was jesus ministry over?

If Adam was 33 years on this earth before he got Eve, it probably explains the propensity for pedophilia in 'God's organization'. Hmm.

Hi, I have an Ebay business (Smiling Moon Books and More) and I have not had any paypal issues in over 320 transactions. However, I am cautious, and I do transfer my monies out regularly since I read about various frauds perpetrated and such.
I have had one bad feedback that was unjustified and retracted, and I think Ebay is doing some serious re-vamping of the feedback process(I recently filled out a long survey on the subject) which I hope will include arbitration of some sort before neg. feedback can be left.
Just to let you know-most sellers are conscientious and want the best for their customers and reputation. ALWAYS read feedback before you make a purchase. I have NOT made several purchases based on seller feedback. Sellers I know would be mortified at anything less than 99%(everyone being entitled to one screw up) but some sellers have very low scores, and anything below a 95% should be carefully scrutinised IMO. Happy shopping.

In the Mormon Church, they do 'baptisms for the dead' which means that someone is baptised 'by proxy' for those who have passed on before, thus giving them the opportunity to accept the gospel. They belief that in the afterlife, they have the opporutnity to preach or be preached at about the gospel, and that since you MUST be baptised, that it is a loving provision by heavenly Father that all can come to Him. This is why the LDS_Latter Day Saints_church is so into geneology. Making sure that all their ancestors have the opp. to accept the gospel is all about the family cnnections that they do continually promote.
I asked to be excommunicated and was never shunned. I do think it is a high control group, but I think that every church I have EVER observed that has any kind of actual interest in the members could be percieved that way. I have been to some where I am invisible from day one, and I know I could go there for years and no one would notice unless I made myself known, or signed up on a committee or something. Love bombing-forget about it!
The tithing would bother me more except that it is in the bible, and I have seen churches that expect not only tithes, but a lot of 'gifts'. The tithe and fast offering are up front-they don't nickle and dime you constantly in addition to the tithing. Frankly, that church does a lot more to take care of its members than any other I have seen, so I personally don't hold the tithing against them as a teaching.
I don't think those 19-21 year old boys have a clue about much, or instruction on how to brainwash you. They are not bible scholars, or BOM scholars, and don't really try to be, from what I see. They mostly go on " I know that the Book of Mormon is TRUE and that the Church is the restored church in these latter days(or something like that). " They aren't gonna wrestle the Word much.

Which flavor of "Christendom" did you think was most demonized? (when a JW)
by Wasanelder Once ini used to feel it was the catholic religion because of all its rituals.
then i felt it was the latter day saints with all thier "personal testimony" and "prophet" doctrines.
finally, after reading about the watchtower's history i've settled on the view that they are all equal.. how did you feel about it when you were a witnoid?.

The JW dress code.....yuck
by JH inthis morning i took a long walk and happened to walk near by a small christian church.
and i could see them come out of the building after their meeting.
they were all dressed differently, some in clean sunday clothes, some in clean jeans, but no one in a suit like the jw's do.

I used to work at a food bank associated with a church, and we would invite folks to services when they were new or if there was a special event (family activity, memorials for servicemen or something)we would hand out flyers. SO MANY PEOPLE would say (and some would mean it) I don't have anything decent to wear to church. And they may not have had anything decent. We would tell them that all we cared about was if they showed up, and if they felt self conscious, we had a clothes bank and they were welcome to use it if they wished.
When they do get to church, they see that the pastor is dressed up(usually) and everyone else ranges from just off the beach towel casual to dressed to the nines. And they all sit together and worship the same God who doesn't even care if they have clothes or not.
Gotta say though, if he DID care, I doubt he would care about knees showing, I doubt if he cares about about 3 piece suits(they used to be the 'norm' at my congregation), but I bet he WOULD be offended by totally ugly clothes in unattractive wash and wear fabrics(because clothes that would require CARE would take away from ones duties to the organization, don't you know!!). I bet he would be offended by NYLONS. And he may think ties are pretty ridiculous also. Worst clothing accessories I have ever seen are WTs though, don't you agree?

Nylons-getting dressed up 3 nights a week in ugly dress up clothes. The ugly clothes almost all witnesses wore.
Not understanding common cultural references to holiday and other things that JWs did not involve themselves in.
That we didn't get to spend holidays with relatives like other people did. We got presents w/in a few days of Xmas so that wasn't the issue. Missed the tree.
The ungenerosity of the WT/JWs to others-even each other- the excuse for its lack of support for any good cause but WT stuff. I thought it was lame when I was six, and when I was out in service as an adolescent and there were old people with really high grass I wondered if a group of us should come back and take care of their yard for them and I was told that our community was better served by our door to door work. Sheez. We were 12, not good for much of anything but yard work at that age! No 'save the children' no march of dimes, blood drives, get out the vote. What a lame group.
No voting-false neutrality. Every JW is HOPING for the biggest war in history, and avidly looking for it to happen, discussing the events of the day and their opinion of them. NOT A BIT NEUTRAL, they show how much they hate our govt in every sentence. I totally disrespect anyone who complains about the govt or 'system of things' while refusing to become involved in the public discourse and process of making govt. work.
Thought control-my brain was fighting against the lack of logic and substance continually. Trying to deny what I knew was true, fighting against my instincts of right and wrong and injustice. Being so afraid of my 'independant thoughts'. Ugh. Sorry, you asked for a few thoughts, I wrote a book.
