My local church has some pretty stringent child abuse policies that I know of for sure. Anyone having anything to do with minor children must have law enforcement background check(by the state or FBI)-this is also true with the local scouting organizations. In addition, our pastor is police chaplain and would NOT keep any such thing silent. He is also on the school board. If there was any questionable behavior in our church, there is a full ministry staff, and enough checks and balances that no such thing could be swept under the rug. Personal experience with the WT org is even when one is a victim, and the perp is NOT in the org., the victim will be marked. PATHETIC excuse for a policy if you ask me. They can't even stand behind a child in loving support, but treat them like tramps or liars. I wonder if 3rd Witness would like to see his child or wife treated in such a way-as if the elders were looking for an excuse to accuse them of promiscuity or adultery.

I am sick of hearing JW news since I wish the org would disappear. OTOH, I am grateful to get it so hopefully it will prepare me for whatever slop they are feeding my poor mom these days. Don't they say keep your friends close and your enemies closer? I need to know if my mom is going to start shunning me hardcore soon-and I am sensing that she might. I really got to get her off her dependency on the org. And I don't know how, though for years I have been reading up. It is such a touchy subject that I am concerned that the next conversation may be the last-you know? I am the only one of her children that she is really close to, the only one she counts on and the one that she knows loves her all the time. I think she is halfway suicidal, I know she is alcoholic and I don't want to put the last straw on her back-or be part of the straw that the WT puts there, if you know what I mean. Shelly

Calling the KH would be great if anyone ever answered the gosh darn phones! I remember trying to get someone to visit my folks when my(non JW )dad was dying. IMPOSSIBLE. I had to contact the CATHOLIC CHAPLAIN to contact the JWs for them-even after my mom had requested it when they checked in-no one came until I had the Padre make a specific call to the right person.(They came one time in 6 months, and there were more requests made at every facility. ONE facility actually got results(the Catholic Hospital) They sure came fast though when it was my JW mom in the hospital and there was some question of BLOOD!!! The blood guys were RIGHT on it. by Annie Over inwhen i got off for lunch today i decided to go to the walmart deli and get something to eat.
it is a huge store, groceries, a bakery, mc donalds, a bank , eye center, beauty shop, a great deli, and a huge garden center.
i had taken back a 80 gig hard drive dvd recorder ( i couldn't figure out how to hook up <smile> and had received 238.00. i picked up a couple of things in the store then went to the deli.

Hi, you were blessed. Just two days ago I turned in a filled up (cash, credit cards the works)wallet to the customer service at my local safeway and hope that it was a blessing to someone else. So many times I have been similarly fortunate and I usually thank God for it too-as illogical as it seems in the grand scheme of things.

Canned spinach is vile. So is venison after you go hunting with your dad. Toss up as to which is worse. I make it a point to not become aquainted in any way with my food any more. Eye contact is a bad thing.

Family tragedy.........HappyDad
by HappyDad ingot a phone call from my daughter who lives in florida a couple of hours ago.
her significant other who i chose to call my son-in-law (because he is the best thing to ever happen to her) got a phone call that his 6 year old daughter was killed in an auto accident near lake placid, florida and his 5 year old son is in very critical condition.
the ex wife is also critical.

by default he became the presiding overseer of the english unit, although he never gave a public talk.
there were many unsuccessful attempts over the years to replace him with a more suitable shepherd.

Thank you for sharing your friend Martin with us. It is a good reminder to us that we were not all just hung up on some stupid religion, but that there were and are wonderful people in it (just as deluded as we were!) that make it less the waste of our lives than we sometimes feel. If we can remember the good parts, the good people, it keeps the bitterness at bay. My good person was Esther. She was an awesome old lady, whose daughter and son in law were the leaders in the congregation. She was the lover-she loved the babies, the children, unlovable teenagers, she loved the unlovable grownups and everyone else. She oozed a true warmth and affection for those around her. Both a blessing and a curse as those people are the ones we all hate to leave, hate to disappoint and will miss the most.
