Wow, aren't JW lawyers volunteers? Therefore any legal TIME should not be an actual expense, should it? (Remember the JW lawyer who was injured and sued? VOLUNTEER)

Would this offend you, if the government made this policy
by free2beme inif the government had this policy .... given that 100% of the terrorist who did 9/11 were arab, and most terrorist are arab.
we as a government will racially profile the arab population and visitors to our country.
spending more time inspecting them, checking them out, and making sure that they are singled out and watched more then any other race.. would this offend you?.

I have a cousin by marriage who has traveled all over Europe, the middle east, the east and Africa. He is (white and)profiled because of his passport stamps. Another (white) friend works for Boeing and travels to respond when there is an aircraft incident. He too is profiled because of his passport. My son LOOKS arab (he is 1/2 mostly white and half Indian.) He will likely be profiled because of his appearance if profiling happens.
While I think that in the short term profiling might work, with the intermarriage in the west, the fact that there are many African and Asian, White Muslims, converts and others who might fall 'under the radar', it will eventually fail. I do think in the short time it would be effective, but these people are here for the long term. Using common sense and all the tools avail on everyone is the best bet. I can see someone scamming an innocent gramma, or forcing a wife or daughter. These people don't care. When there is ANYTHING remotely suspect that pops up on the radar though, I sure don't want anyone to be 'shy' of pursuing it in the fear of being labeled as racist or discriminatory. If someone is suspicious, do what you gotta do.

How do you feel about the name Jehovah?

do you care?
do you cringe when you hear it?

I appreciate your thoughtful responses. I try to respect others' beliefs and will use the name around JWs who know that I 'know' it...I have no personal sense that I should use it, as I believe that most of what the JWs taught us about it(and lots of other things) is manipulative and misleading to promote their own agenda. I do have a gut reaction every time I hear it.

Sorry if I sound like a conspiracy theorist but I, for one, always believed it was shot down and I don't blame anybody for doing this if it happens to be true. But, because I believe our government feels that it would be unhealthy for its citizens to believe this, they can fake the results and make it look like it did a nose-dive caused by the hijackers. I am not impressed by any "reconstruction" they do in an airline hangar because this can always be faked by experts. The gov. is simply not comfortable with the people thinking or knowing this could have been done deliberately so I do believe they would deny, deny, deny, no matter what! I also feel the same way about that other airliner that went down in Long Island Sound some years back which was rumored to have been accidentally shot down by a missile. LHG
I say it was sure accomodating of Osama and crew to go along with it and claim responsibility and to thoughtfully continue to do so as more terrorist attacks happen in other parts of the world.
The government has not been in a deny mode, from what I hear. They don't spend much time from what I can see answering crazy accusations.
I have a family friend, I have known him all my life who is one of the guys who goes to accident scenes to examine wreckage. He is fully supportive of the war-more so than I, and he actually has first hand information of 2 of those airliner crash scenes.

I won't ever forget. This is the first year I haven't felt some fear on the day. I don't know why that is-I am still crying whenever the subject is raised(any day of the year). It is good to remember the love, good to remember the people and to remember how, for a brief shining moment, our country really came together for each other. That was the good from the evil, and something that is good and hopeful and defiant of those who tried to destroy us. I appreciate the heroes-all of them.

What Were You Doing When You Found Out about 9-11 5 Years Ago??
by mama1119 ineveryone has a story about what they were doing and the emotions that followed after the twin towers were hit...what is your story?
?

I had crawled back into bed after getting my older kids off to school. My little boy was sleeping and I sleep when he does) My mom called me. Right before the second tower fell. All I could do was watch the news all day and hold on to my baby boy(he was really a toddler and didn't appreciate my attention much at the time!) and cry. My JW mom was convinced of course that it was the beginning of the end(Gosh, they have a LOT of those, eh?)
I lived and worked in NYC. I have people I care about that live there. I still cry every time I see an old movie with the towers or a new scene without them. Both tear me up-they were my symbol of NYC. One of the first things I did on my first trip into the city was to go down there by the Towers and see it all-Battery Park. Standing at the base of the towers, eating in a little Greek restraunt. I adore NYC and am looking forward to going back.
NYC was everything I had ever dreamed it was and nothing like it-all at the same time. It is so much MORE than a girl from the suburbs in Washington State can grasp. Even now, that time I lived there feels like a hazy happy dream (mostly).

I don't think that thanking God/Jehovah/Jesus is stupid OR baiting. May former JWs don't have any issues with the name Jehovah, except as associated with the Borg. Many can thank God for any blessing they receive and don't really need anyone's permission or acceptance of the idea to do so. If we left the Borg so we can pick on those who believe differently than we do how does that make us any different essentially? Isn't that what we do when IN the borg? There are Christians and Atheists here. Most are ex-JWs. I think some respect is in order. I have seen things on this board that make my toenails warp! And I can be pretty earthy sometimes. I am not going to run down anyone here. The only thing I pick on is the organization and its teachings. JWs are people too-and we all used to be one of them (JW's-most of us are still people:)). If you can't ask God to bless them, just ask yourself to be kinder than they would be to you, and make a liar out of the borg. (Strictly my editorial opinion, and not meant to be a demand, order or in any way imperious!) I love this place, and would hate for a person who is looking on to be scared off before they can learn anything useful, or ask questions that may be answered here for them.

http://www.911omissionreport.com/93_pilot/ : He was awarded a medal from the Governor one year later for his heroic actions. As well as Decorated by Congress on 9/13/2001. The Happy Hooligans were previously stationed in North Dakota, and moved to Langley Air Force base some months before 911 occured on a "Temporary assignment."
I searched and could find no evidence of this person receiving any decoration by congress or Governor (of what?) Could you please cite references?
