Wow, after reading Quandry, I am thinking that if more JWs walked their talk, more kids would stay in-even if they were only doing it for their parents. Then again, sounds as if Quandry's folks built a loving family all around that had less to do with the organizational edicts than it did their own loving and involved nature.

Are family heads regular with their family study?
by truthseeker inwhat percentage of family heads do you think actually have a weekly bible study with their family?.
the wt is keen to say that if you're not holding/participating in a family study, you're spiritually weak.. is having a family study a benchmark of whether or not you stay in the faith?.

When it was just me and my mom, we never had regular study. I had a sister at the cong. that had studies with me from the time I was about 9 or so, but never with my mom. The (various) sisters were young married women who were in their early 20's.

I know how you feel. My mom whenever I bring up anything about the organization goes to the ad hominem attacks. And being my mom, she has the ammo! Of course, none of it has to do with the subject of the WT, it is her way of avoiding the subject. He should not be taking your kids out in service. I think you need to find a way to end that. I don't know that having your girls labeled as apostates is quite the trick though!

I am weird. I saw Angelina and Billy Bob Thornton together once-they freaked me out-the both of them, and I think they are both weirdly appealing. In her way, freaky, and in his way, the boy everyones mother hopes she never meets. Oh, and Conan O'Brien. (My red haired men fixation-I can't help myself!)

Who I really am
by JWdaughter inthis is so stupid, but yesterday i was shopping and i saw this wild blouse and i thought-if i could dress how i really wanted to, i would buy that blouse.
i walked away and was thinking-why the hell shouldn't i dress how i want to?
because someone told me that orange paisley print is tacky?

I love it, it is silky and bright and not boring. Sorry guys, it is not slutty, though it does make me look like I actually have a waist.
BTW, I will never look at paisley the same way again!

Young People Ask... & (those stealthy apostates)
by *jeremiah* inyoung people ask .
.. chat rooms.
how can i avoid the dangers?introducing moral corruptioni was in a chat room with a group of people who i thought were all jehovahs witnesses, says a youth named tyler.

Miss Peaches, did you try to corrupt their morals? Were you IMing the local interns? Making dates to hook up? If your motives were to get them to THINK, I don't believe it could be counted as corrupting them. Although, stealthy isn't the best idea. Ultimately it destroys trust. Being who you are and approachable w/o lying is fairly effective. Except that most JWs are suspicious and wary of anyone online in any case, they aren't often willing to discuss their religion with anyone they don't know and trust online.

I walked away and was thinking-Why the hell shouldn't I dress how I want to? Because someone told me that orange paisley print is tacky? Prints are tacky? Those sleeves are not businesslike, not a conservative choice, my husband would think I became some raving hippie/democrat/lesbian??? Well, the hippie democrat part got me turning around and going straight back to the store to try on the top. It is SO me. I just love it. I am not a lesbian, but I am one well bathed hippie at heart! I am now the proud possessor of a very expensive polyester(OK that part I can find no justification for, but I still love it!) wrap around blouse with crazy puffy sleeves. And I did not even wait till it went on sale, much less clearance.
Why would I go through my life dressing like someone else thinks I should? Especially when most of the someone elses never even have MET me? The only people who really love me still will even if they hate the top, and the rest don't matter. Why do I do this to myself? Aaargh. Anyway, without religion, politics, marriage or other issues clouding me, I tend to make intersting clothing choices.
