My JW MIL asked me to help her download a QR app to her iphone
by nonjwspouse inshe is entirely technically challenged, but of course, has been pushed into purchasing the newest ipad and newest iphone .. while attempting to see if she already had a qr app in the iphone ( she thought she might have but couldn't find it) i saw maybe 10 different jw apps on there!
this kind of stuff blows me away when such technologically challenged older people are now getting the latest and greatest ( much newer than anything i have) .
don't even really know how to use them properly or understand them very well sometimes.

I have lived in Africa and Asia, and while people in the sticks likely don't have all the newest and latest stuff, there is surprisingly more access than some might know of or even believe. Even in the sticks. The cities hold a great deal of the population and even "poor" people in the countryside often have cell phones these days-even though they might not have flush toilets.Like the Amish, they often have technology hubs that they can travel to. It won't be long, IMO, before all but the most isolated and primitive will have technological access.
think about it.Even our grandparents are getting on the technology train. Little kids in Africa want to be. I know a young man who, less than 15 years ago, cobbled together an internet connection and internet cafe for his little town in Pakistan. He is now running the IT department of a major bank in the US.
We trade food, clothes, commodities of all kinds all over the world. Our ID is stolen and used internationally. The need is there for those places to catch up and they are, quickly.

They are both in late middle age and look it. Nothing to be ashamed about. That he doesn't have some young trophy wife is something, anyway! Just an older lady doing what she has to to get along. Be kind:) -

Jehovah's Witness Elder poisoned by excommunicated man
by sherrie11 indisgruntled jehovahs witness was caught on camera poisoning his elders milk with weed killer after being excommunicated over an extramarital affair, a court has heard.
for the first time, the advertiser can name and show brett darren mardon, who is standing trial accused of attempting to put three lives at risk the elder, his wife and their young child.. he has denied injecting milk, apple juice and other liquids in the refrigerator of ben anthanysz with glyphosate a weed killer that causes health problems if consumed in large quantities.. mardon has maintained his innocence of the charges despite being recorded by a cctv camera mounted in the anthanyszs kitchen.. opening the trial, prosecutor nick healy said mardons actions were a vengeful response to his church peers ignoring his existence, as required by their faith.. he said mr anthanysz had been part of a three-person jehovahs witness committee that censured mardon for having sex with someone while married.. mardon was part of the jehovahs witness congregation based at crafers, and was excommunicated because of moral issues, he said.. an excommunicated member is still entitled to attend church meetings, however none of the congregation can speak to him while they are there.. mardon, 47, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of attempting to create a risk of harm and three counts of serious criminal trespass in a place of residence.. he has pleaded guilty, however, to two counts of theft namely stealing personal documents from mr anthanyszs home.. http://www.news.com.au/national/south-australia/sa-court-told-brett-darren-mardon-poisoned-the-milk-of-jehovahs-witness-elder-after-he-was-excommunicated-from-the-faith/story-fnii5yv4-1227238876533 .

Asshole Atheism – Not for me, now or ever.
by donny into start off with let me clarify that by asshole atheism i am not referring to strong atheism or any other type of upfront atheism.
what i am referring to is the belligerent, hateful atheism that smacks of trolls and other types who want to derail conversation or comments at any cost..
i enjoy hearing comments from both sides of the subjects of theism, nationalism or politics, especially from those who have intense opinions.

I kind of prefer the "spiritual, not religious" kind of folks in general. Too much religion or total disrespect for believers -well, it never goes to a good place, does it?
My son is kind of a a-hole atheist (or agnostic, which seems worse, somehow). I can't mention God or faith or blessings (and being Muslim, I try to keep my specific version of faith out of it) without him going for my throat, for my moms's for my other sons or their dad (and they are all of different faiths). I actually removed myself frm FB and he is at least a big reason for it. Not agreeing with those of faith is fair enough. Calling eveyone of faith an idiot is rude-at best. A lot of other things at worst. To disagee is fair. To disrespect and disparage is asshole behavior. Some EX JWs do it to JWs, and the some of the many atheist/agnostic ones have done it to any other believer.
I don't really understand why folks feel the need to do that. Discussions--even tough questions, I get that. But when they are surrounded with insults and inflammatory disparaging insults and denigration-how are they furthering any kind of conversation, much less mutual respect?. I'd much rather meet a respectful atheist that I could work side by side with than a fundy believer. I don't want to be associated with a**holes of any persuasion. Activists can be the most off putting bad advertisements for their causes imaginable.Activist atheists included.

What a shame that the entire family has been so twisted by this man and that the religion is so twisted that they support a child abuser over an abused child. Of course, the child, who is joining the navy, doesn't deserve any support because she has chosen the world over Jehovah's loving organization.
Seriously, the grandparents should die from pure shame. The man was a repetitive adulterer and they still kept making him an elder again and again? The organization has shown us their character standards before he was accused!
I'm glad he is going to prison. It's not long enough, though. Sorry about that. Anyone else wonder what the WT and his fellow elders may have already known about that guy? He sounds like he was known to be of a low character. Maybe other abuses went on that he got away with since people didn't publicise it.

by My Name is of No Consequence inafter almost 24 years in the school and doing it since i was nine years old, i officially resigned.
it has become increasingly difficult to prepare talks, especially with the new format for brothers.
i did not mind doing them; i actually put the time and effort into getting them out.

Now you know how the sisters feel! I always thought it was a bogus underhanded way for women to instruct men when we couldn't REALLY instruct men. It was a farce. I hated it. -

Ooops. They're back at the anti-type game.
by scotoma ini thought it was ex"plane"d at the corporate meeting that type-antitypes were finished unless it expressly is stated in the bible.. from the feb 22 study article.
question on paragraph 11- what comparison found at psalm 122:3,4 could be applied to god's people today?.
during the coming time of trouble for this system, we will have to be truly united.

OR, they could be wiggling their way into communes. Made the spiritual closeness connection, but why not just be direct? They lived on top of one another. . . there's an idea! If everyone sold their homes an lived together on a small piece of property, they could donate all their equity to the org. . . . -

Do You Think President Obama Is Muslim?
by minimus ini really think that he is.
not that it's a bad thing...
-
JWdaughter
Obama is not Muslim. I started checking him out before he officially declared. I was kind of on the conservative side of the aisle-ok, a lot. So, I read all the nasty stuff that was said about him and his so called faith. I tried to see the other side. I gave the birther idea a (way more than fair) consideration (bordering on ridiculous, because, like I said, I was R).I picked apart his family relationships and his friends and his travels and his drug use.
He wasn't born in Kenya. Period. He was raised with Muslims for a while, but I don't think he was or is Muslim. He is a liberal and educated Christian who is not a provincial troglodyte He isn't getting his information on Islam from conservative talk radio like some here may be.(I used to be one of you.) He knows the difference between what the Quran teaches and what ISIS is doing. He isn't ignorant of what Islam "really" is, like some who claim to be experts are-just plain ignorant or deceptive. He doesn't seem to have had any adult brushes with the practice of Islam. Being nice or hospitable or conciliatory to people isn't exactly an "unchristian" thing to be. Bhe Bushes were gracious hosts to the same crowd of people His mom was not Muslim and he spent MOST of his formative years in the States with his christian family, His dad was a alcoholic atheist. Not exactly a picture of Islamic devotion. I dont see it.I just don't think so.
My catholic son was in a school filled with Muslims and living in a Muslim country (not going to a madrassa, but most of his friends from school were Muslim and there were Arabic courses and praying allowed in the school(voluntary)). Two years 10-12. He is not Muslim, he's an altar boy at the local RC church.
My investigation of Obama and the question of his religion led me to investigate Islam more fully. I didn't vote for him either time. I think Obamacare is unconstitutional (but I like certain aspects of it). I think he has done some lame ass stuff. I think he seems well intentioned but very political (which negates a lot of good intentions, IMO). I think Michelle dresses nice.
